Our parents are crucial to the mannerisms we pick up and the traits we acquire. That's why every person has once said, "That child's behavior is from the way they were raised," whether the way they act is good or bad. Our parents or guardians are the ones who mold us and set us out into the world to be the person that they had a hand in shaping.
Parents will teach children their manners, for instance the basics of saying please and thank you, or just holding the door for a stranger. They instill in us the kindness to face the world with and the skills as they would say when we were children to, "Play well with others." They are the first to introduce values like honesty, determination and consideration of other people around us. All those traits are important, but the best that they have shown us, in all different ways is love. They are the foundation to who we are as a person, and we couldn't be here without them.
When you're young, they always ask who your hero is. Grade school teachers get all kinds of wild answers like Batman or Jennifer Lopez. Some kids often answer their parents, and after reaching college age, I realize that my parents are the true heroes. Those kids were very smart.
My parents taught me all those things: honesty, determination and proper manners. I try to always say "Thank you," and "Bless you" when someone sneezes (Okay, most of the time). They've taught me so much more in their examples of hard work, compassion for others and their generous nature. They gave me everything they could and more even continuing to this day. I could never repay them for all those lessons they have taught me and even the lessons I wasn't aware I was learning.
Thank you for driving the carpools when you didn't want to and funding the endless number of activities to keep me busy. Those moments in dance or cheerleading were a big help in molding me, too. Thank you for all the trips to look back on and all the places we have gone. Thank you for the most beautiful childhood memories, but most of all, thank you for loving me unconditionally. Thank you for the support always every step of the road from grade school to high school and now to college where you're support continues.
Thank you mom and dad. I wouldn't be the person I am today without you. I know that the person I am today wouldn't have happened without you. Being blessed doesn't even describe how lucky I got with parents like you, but I would also like to add you got pretty blessed with a child like me.
Thanks for giving me that great sense of humor. I forgot to mention that little trait until now. Thank you forever and ever. I could never say thank you enough.
