To The Little Sister I Never Had

She's a goofball, and a total nut. She loves pictures and has an eye for the beauty in everything, and everyone. She loves to laugh, and takes life by the reigns in every sense of the saying. She is mature, but not to the point where she'll deny throwing down.

She is the little sister I always wanted, and hopefully I'm the big sister she never had. She welcomes life and all of its warts, and has an incredible ability to look on the bright side of just about everything. She encourages me, and challenges me to think and smile and feel comfortable in my own imperfect skin.

She is the reason why being in a sorority is worth it.

She talks me through ridiculous things, and she is never timid when making fun of a boy I like or a dorky thing I did.

My little is my little because she is kind, she is intelligent and passionate about wringing out every last bit of joy in life's journey. It's sometimes hard to believe she's the little because truly it's surprising to most people it's not the other way around.

She has bounds of love she casts out to people that need it, even strangers she just met.

I trust her with everything because I know there is no judgment awaiting me for my actions or unfiltered thoughts.

I respect her for her ability to make people feel comfortable and at ease, no matter if it's someone she loves or despises (even though I don't think she despises anyone) she is relatable, empathetic. It is so comforting.

She has a love for her hometown, a love that's clearly marked not only by the pride she has when she speaks of it but also the million posters of home plastered on her wall.

She is a total girlie-girl, even though she might deny it.

Her fashion is unreal, literally would pay all the money in the world to dress like she does, flawless and effortless.

She inspires me to write more because she somehow thinks it's cool.

My little is the epitome of the oldest, mature, confident, and already successful.

She's obsessed with New Girl, so essentially she's kind of basic (just kidding).

She has a style about the way she carries herself through life that is inspirational to those around her. She is a role model, a kind soul, and a gal that gives the advice I'd expect from a life guru.

She sees no point in getting embarrassed because she lives her life in a way that she isn't ashamed of.

She is in awe of what a sorority can do to bring people together, and has a fresh, untrimmed view on all the wonders that can happen within a sisterhood.

She is faithful. She is truthful. That in itself proves her idea of character and morale.

She thinks that I'm something special, which simply proves I've been able to fool her all too well.

This girl brings a light to life that is special and unique, and trying to describe it simply just sounds cliché. I suppose you'll just have to take my word for it.

My little accepts my incessant texts, my late night thoughts, and my utter ridiculousness and puts me up on a pedestal.

When you realize that you have gained a sister that not only boosts you up, but continues to shed light and joy onto your life, you, my friend, have found a little like mine. One that is imperfectly perfect.

I wouldn't change a single thing about her, she is, and always will be, my little inspiration.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
