To The Girls With A Bare Face

I can't do makeup, but it won't stop me from trying.

Once I was seven years old and couldn't do makeup. Now I am seventeen years old and still can't do makeup. Anyone who has never made an attempt at it may say "Oh, it can't be that difficult!" Well I'm here to tell you to not let the tutorials on Youtube fool you: it's hard to do on yourself.

Prior to writing this article I watched a Youtube makeup tutorial on a five minute back to school look. Seems easy enough right? Well, when the video ended and it was my turn to try it. That five minutes it look the girl to show me turned into thirty minutes. Needless to say I'll be attending school each day with foundation and a couple good coats of mascara.

Going into my senior year still clueless on how to even match my skin tone is nerve racking. Especially considering the fact that upcoming freshman can do makeup better than I can! It's a tough world out there for girls, and let me tell you,.a bare face can get you talked about. My light eyebrows are not very noticeable and blend into my face if I don't fill them in...a lot. I never understood until recently how "important" eyebrows were. "Do you even have any eyebrows?" was always a comment made when I spoke to another girl. If that doesn't show how easily you can become insecure about a part of your body, I don't know what will.

Just because I haven't mastered makeup doesn't mean I won't wear it. Periodically, I will try to do eyeshadow or eyeliner, but days like that are few and far between. When I do, I am so scared that someone will say something about it to me or behind my back. Girls are not shy, especially when it comes to calling each other out on flaws. If you know me, you know I get my feelings hurt very easily and so I try not to give people reasons to hurt them. But this year that side of me can and will change. If I want to wear makeup, I will. I would like to remind those who give girls like me a hard time that makeup won't solve some types of ugly. (Thats all I have to say about that)

Girls:Wearing makeup doesn't define who you are or what you look like. If anything it hides your true beauty.

I do however understand why some girls pile it on. I have been one of the lucky ones with minimal break outs but I understand that it can really bring girls down and make them feel not as pretty. If that's what you have to do in order to feel beautiful, you do you girl.

Whether you are good or bad at makeup we can all agree that it's basically an art. you have to work at it to make it even close to perfect. Colors, lines, details, blending all these things are just the beginning to a masterpiece. It's true that not everyone can be an artist...I'm living proof of that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
