Dear best friend,
We both know I was a mess senior year of high school. I was loud, unorganized and too ambitious. You balanced that out in me and I cannot thank you enough.
In every way, you’re my character foil. I’m loud and you’re more restrained. I took on way too much and you sat back and took on what you could handle. I constantly went to you for advice in my life and you’ve seen me cry an embarrassing amount of times. Thankfully, you saw how much of an emotional wreck I was and decided to stick around anyway.
Thank you for staying with me during the late nights that I couldn’t get out of my head and those times where fun was just a must. Thank you for being in all of my memories from senior year. I constantly look back at the picture we took together at graduation, and smile because we went through hell and back, but still made it through.
Do you remember that time we went to Starbucks at Barnes and Noble at the mall and they told you you couldn’t use your Starbucks gift card there? The funniest part of that entire day was that moment and you awkwardly replied to the barista, “That’s cool” starting a running joke between the both of us.
We were supposed to go to college together, but life happens and you stayed home and I went off to Chicago. Though we can’t see each other as much as we’re used to, you’re still my best friend in every sense of the word. Thank you for pushing me to finish senior year strong and even from almost 5,000 miles away pushing me to be a better person in college. I can’t wait to see you soon and show you how much your friendship has meant to me.
I love you, best friend, and thanks for sticking around through the funny times.
Love,
The one who wouldn’t have made it without you
