An Open Letter To The Girl Who Feels Like Giving Up

Please hold on, it gets better. Even if it doesn't seem like it will.

Hey,

I know things get rough sometimes.

I don't know what you have been facing, and I probably never will. But what I do know is that I have been there.

Been to the place where you feel like your world is crashing down on you. Like the walls of every room you are in are crumbling down around you. Like a storm no one knew was coming has swept you up and swallowed you whole.

Whether you are struggling with some family problems, losing weight or always fighting with your significant other, things seem very dark and gloomy right now. You could be overwhelmed with stress from school, pressure form work, or even pressure from your peers. There could be so many things that have you wanting to quit right now.

I know how it feels.

Like you can't do anything right.

Like you don't deserve to be happy.

Like no one could love someone like you.

You feel like a failure. An outcast. Like you could die today and no one would even notice you are gone.

Well, I have something to tell you, a secret of sorts.

You will be missed. By those who notice how hard you are working and how much you are struggling. You may not know that they see you, but they do.

Keep your head up and keep marching on. Don't listen to what anyone says unless it is positive, but never forget where you came from either. It will still be hard as you keep going, but here are a few quotes to keep you motivated.

I hope you don't give up because I want to see you succeed, I don't know you, but know this...I love you, and I believe in you.

So.

To the girl who is crying herself to sleep at night because she doesn't think she can take the pressure to be perfect, or get straight A's, or the amount of work she is buried under.

To the girl, who looks in the mirror and sees every flaw she thinks she has in the mirror tenfold and sobs into her hands, and doesn't think she can do it anymore.

To the girl, who wants to run away from her family, her friends, and everyone else in the world.

and

To the girl, who feels like giving up for any reason at all.

Don't give up. Things will get better. it may not be tomorrow and it may not be as fast as you want it to, but it will. This I promise you!

It won't be easy to keep forging on. Just remember, if it gets worse, that is OK. It's OK to feel like giving up as long as you don't actually give up.

Waiting is easier than regretting the mistakes you made or the things you didn't finish. Keep going.

Hope is a fan of yours, cheering you on from all around and holding you close when you're down. Listen to hope when it whispers to you.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
