To The Girl Who Doesn't Feel Good Enough

You're beautiful, strong, and worthy of great things.

To The Girl Who Doesn't Feel Good Enough

Dear you,

I know right now it isn't easy. You feel inferior, less than you "should" be. You compare yourself to other people. You call yourself mean names like ugly, fat, and worthless. You think so much about the qualities about yourself that you perceive as negative that you hardly ever focus on the positives. Your head is filled with so many insults and bad thoughts that there is no room for happiness and self love. You feel as if it will always be like this; you will never learn to love yourself. You feel like you aren't good enough and never will be.

But I am here to tell you that the thoughts in your head are wrong. You are good enough-- in fact you're much more than that. You're beautiful, strong, and worthy of great things. You're capable of so much merely because you are who you are. Stop comparing yourself to others. You are no less than anyone else in this world. Did you ever think about how amazing it is that the same God who created the mountains, flowers, and sunsets also created you? You are just as beautiful as all of God's other creations. You are unique and unlike anyone else. The world needs you. Stop beating yourself up and telling yourself that you will never amount to anything. Stop calling yourself mean names. Stop telling yourself you're not beautiful. Stop doubting your abilities.

You're amazing just as you are right now. Of course, we can all improve in some areas of our lives, but this does not mean we are not worthy of good things or not good enough. We are constantly improving, and for that we should be proud of ourselves. You're not perfect, and you never will be, but perfection is not what matters in this world. What matters is that you are trying your best and most importantly, accepting yourself as you are. You need to learn to believe that you are enough, because until then you won't be able to embrace life fully. Please trust me when I tell you that you are more than good enough, even if it's hard to believe right now. One day you will see your worth and on that day, you will be inspired to help others to do the same. If you really want to love life and the people around you, you first need to learn to love yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
