To The Girl Getting In Shape For Summer

To the girl getting in shape this semester for summer:

Girl I am right there with you. I have never been one to work out because my God is it awful. When you’re as out of shape as I am, working out becomes a scary thought. Going to the school gym was so scary for me, so I was lucky enough to have a friend who works out everyday and was able to create a beginners work out to target the areas I wanted to fix, but made them so I could do them in the comfort of my own room. I am trying to get in shape for this summer, not for a boy but for me. I have always been thinner but when school started I gained weight and started breaking out from the food and my lack of exercise. But I'm proud that you’re getting in shape this semester no matter what your reason is I’m happy for you. I know once I started I just wanted to be fit already, I'm just generally impatient, but alas results are not over night. But girl we will look bomb as hell soon enough we just gotta stick with it long enough. Honestly it doesn't take too long just put your hair up do some squats.

Sincerely,

The girl who’s out of breath after climbing a flight of stairs.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
