When we come to college, we are introduced and faced with people of all different personalities, backgrounds, and opinions. We may clash with some of these people, but we also may find that some of these people grow to become our best friends. I have learned that having friends all over who are very different can benefit me in the way that I always have someone there for whatever I may need. This is a thank you to all my very close, but very different friends who I have met in college.
The Nonjudgemental Friend
Thank you for being the person I can come to with absolutely anything-and I really mean anything. You are the person who after a bad night and bad decisions I come to to share with, and I know you will never judge me for anything I do. You may not agree with my decisions but you always support me and help me to deal with whatever it is I need to fix.
The Venting Friend
You are the person who keeps me functioning when I think I may explode. I can come to you with everything that has happened and regardless of the relevance of the situation you listen and provide input, and then vent back to me as I try to understand and give you the best advice possible. Thank you for always being there, food and drink in hand, prepared for a venting session that could last hours.
The Deep Friend
Whenever I can't figure out what something means, am struggling with thoughts and feelings, or have an experience that I can't quite get through-I can rely on you. You have incredibly deep insight and an ability to be empathetic in any situation, giving me advice that is not only helpful but also incredibly well thought out. Thank you for always listening and caring.
The Goofy Friend
You pick me up more than anyone in the world. While when faced with something serious you may not know what to say, you always know what to do to bring me out of a funk. You are my go-to person for adventures, road trips, and any sort of fun outing. Thank you for always being willing to explore and adventure with me, and thank you for always picking me up when I'm down.
The Serious Friend
I would be so incredibly lost without you. You are the one who grounds me when I am being too irresponsible and reminds me of where I need to be. You're never afraid to call me out on things when no one else will, and you do it because you care. Thank you for loving me and keeping me in line.
The Wild Friend
You, my friend, are something else. I had never met anyone like you until you came along with your extremely outgoing personality and ability to get along with anyone. You're always up for going out and having a good time, and even though half the time I can't keep up with you I am so thankful to have your lively crazy self in my life.
The Mom Friend
We all call you mom and it's for good reason. Without you, we would probably all fall apart. You're the one who is always checking on everyone, making sure things are in order, and making sure the house is clean. Thank you for keeping us all sane and happy, we would all be lost without you.
The Childhood Best Friend
Although I didn't meet you in college, I can't not include you because to this day you are such a huge part of my life. Even though we don't see each other much, our catch-up lunch dates are my saving grace. Thank you for being there through it all -- the good and the bad. I know you will be for the rest of my life.
The All-Around Best Friend
You are the one person who I truly would not make it through college without. From Freshman year, you have been there every step of the way. Every bad decision and good, every breakdown, every time I've been convinced I'm going to fail and drop out, every late night trip for food -- you have been there. You are my person, my sister, my family and I want to thank you for being you.
All of these people have come together to form the amazing group of best friends that I have in college. College wouldn't be the same without any of you.
Thank you for being in my life.
