Thank you to the Champions for giving me hope. Being down in the finals 3-1 couldn’t have been easy, but you proved everybody wrong and came back. You never let the bad calls or injuries stop you from playing your hardest. It’s been a tough road throughout the years but that era is over.
Watching you play has been the highlight of most fans' year. We all believed you would make it to the finals this year but some were unsure how it would end. Being a Cleveland sports fan, we aren’t used to becoming champions. We have been known as the city with the 52-year drought. Now, we are the 2016 NBA champions.
The tight-knit brotherhood you each have with one another inspires us fans. Whether we are watching all your handshakes, or religiously following your families on social media and awing over all your family pictures, we love being a part of your team.
To the fans: thank you for giving me life. From the sold out watch parties, to the crowded bars, to the fans going to away games and to the packed streets of Cleveland, you supported the team win or lose. You gave me something to never forget.
Your fans will always support you, through it all. Whether its LeBron getting hit in the groin by Draymond Green in game 5, Steph Curry throwing his mouth guard out of anger, Kyrie Irving’s knee injury in overtime of game 1, Kevin Love suffering from a dislocated shoulder or all of LeBron’s breathtaking blocks.
The excitement each one of us went through on game days or rest days was unforgettable. Everywhere we went, people bled wine and gold. This series was the talk of the summer.
So, thank you to the champions. You all brought out the very best in each Cleveland sports fan and gave us a summer that we will never forget. You gave us hope when ending the drought. Finally, thank you for giving the kids of Cleveland hope and tons of goose bumps. We love you.
Hard work on 3.
Together on 6.
