To the Best Little I Could Ask For

There was no doubt in my mind that you would be my little from the very first night I met you.

To the best little I could ask for,

Thank you. Thank you for being a constant light in my life and reminding myself to set a good example for you. Being in a sorority was one of the greatest commitments I made. One of the highlights of joining a chapter is getting a greek fam to call your own. Getting your big is the highlight of your first year of being in a chapter as a baby freshman. The next greatest thing is getting your little. That’s exactly what happened when I met you. I knew right away I had to have you as my very own little human to help guide and consume my day to day life with.

Having you in my life has made my sorority experience 100 times better than what it already was. I thought that being in this chapter with all of my sisters was the greatest life decision I made, but when you came along you proved that it was even better. Though I forget to tell you how much I love and appreciate you, here are some reasons why you’re the greatest blessing to me.

You’re the sister I never had but always wanted.

I always dreamed of having a little sister to spoil, dress up, boss around, everything. Having a little brother wasn’t the same because I couldn’t dress him up in cute clothes and pink. I could but my parents would be pissed and he wouldn’t cooperate. You fulfilled my 6-year-old dream of having a real, life-size Barbie doll. Having you to dress up, follow me around, and hang out with whenever I want is the best thing ever.

For always testing my patience.

The two of us together can be polar opposites at the same time of being identical twins. Yet, somehow it seems to work for the both of us. Freshman year is the year of mistakes and the year of stories I pray to God my children will never hear of. And just like me, you were a little wild child that made your first year at college legendary. Though I roll my eyes at the cringe-worthy stories you tell me about, I can’t say much because I was once as wild as you were. You may be the reason for my gray hairs at 21, but you’re also the reasons for my hysterical laughs and smiles at the happiness college brings you.

You make me feel like a mom, grandma, big sister, mentor, everything all in one.

Sometimes when I’m lecturing you I feel like an old grandma that is wise beyond my years, and other times when I take care of you I feel like your mother. And when you always come to me for guidance and advice, which I love for the record, you treat me like the big sister I always wanted to be. The most heartfelt moments I have with you are when you come to me with adoring eyes asking for advice and help on things whether it’s life altering decisions or help picking out an outfit for formal.

You remind me so much of myself, it’s scary.

I never thought I’d meet anyone who was as much of a little diva princess as I was, but then you came along. You’re as Disney obsessed as I am, and you love pink just about as much as I do. Pretty hard to beat if you ask me, but you managed to do so! And that is probably my favorite thing about you, is being able to take a step back from you and realize it’s like looking into a mirror and hearing myself talk.

You keep me young.

Even when you remind me of how old I’m getting, you still manage to make me feel like I’m a third-year freshman all over again. My table top dancing nights at the bars are all because of hanging out with you beforehand and making me feel young again. Sometimes I don’t know if I should thank you or curse you.

You’re always the first person I can go to when I need to vent.

We all know how annoying I find some people. Going to you to vent about people’s annoyance is the best thing because you just listen and agree with me and then we can laugh about it. I don’t know how I would keep my sanity if it weren’t for you.

You keep me accountable.

Although I am always down for a good time with you, you make me realize that being a good role model towards you is the best thing I can do for the two of us. Every day you help me strive to be a better person and to always be there for you in times of need. Before you came along I was a wild thing that didn’t take much responsibility, and now I have calmed down a lot and become a much more obedient individual.

Lastly, you’re perfect in every single way.

There was no doubt in my mind that you would be my little from the very first night I met you. You were the cutest little thing I laid my eyes on and I knew no one else would ever come close to being my little. I’m so thankful you chose me to be your big and if I do say so myself I’ve never seen a more perfect and cute big/little pairing. If I had to go through the process of choosing a little all over again, it’d be you in a heartbeat.

So for making my sorority experience the best I could ask for thank you. Though it has only been a year that we have been together as big little, it seems like a lifetime. Which makes me realize we have a lifetime of years ahead of us of making memories that I swear we will never tell our children about.

I love you to infinity and beyond my little princess!

Love,

Biggie

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
