To Selfless, Crazy Friend

In the life that we live, we always find friends in people that we least expect. Coming into college, I didn't think that I would be friends with the group of people that I am with right now. Throughout the year and a half of friendship, we've all learned aspects of each other that we may not particularly like. We've learned that we may not all get along, and that sometimes..some friendships just aren't meant to be. In this amazing group of friends, I've been fortunate to find someone that I connect too, no matter what the situation and no matter the time of day. Sometimes, we find comfort in people that we least expect, the person who isn't your person, but definitely plays a role in your everyday life. I was fortunate enough to find that as well, someone who is always caring for me, and is always eating my snacks, but it's okay because that is what friendship is.

To my spontaneous friend who I didn't know that I needed in my life, this is for you.

Thank you for all that you have done for me and all that you continue to keep doing. Thank you for always helping me through my problems and being a shoulder for me to cry on. I'm sorry for all the times that I may have pissed you off or annoyed you, which I assume is often. I appreciate you coming to me always, especially this past summer. It means more to me than you'll ever know, that you came and trusted me and talked to me. There is no one else in this "benfer," that I would go to first, I mean even though you are probably tired of hearing my problems.

We all deserve a friend like you in our lives, and even if after college we go our separate ways, I know that we will always have each others best interest in heart. There are so many characteristics that I admire about you and try to instill in myself like how to be truly strong and confident in yourself. Even though I know it wasn't easy for you to get to that point. You fight so hard for what you love and more especially who you love. You're so determined and you believe in me even when I don't believe in myself. You're so good at building others up and just giving people the attention that they need, you're there for everyone around you and never complain. All of your words are so carefully crafted to form exactly what I and others around me need to hear. When you make a decision, you measure all the options to see not only what's best for you but also what's best for the people around you. It's for all of these things and more that you inspire me to be the best person I can be. You prove to me that God really does put certain people in your life for a reason.

This isn't meant to be some sappy love letter, but I mean take it as you will. I believe that this is something that you should know always, how amazing of a friend you are. (I sound like a teacher's pet, but I just had to get this off my chest)

To people out there who have a friends like this, I think that you should tell them today how much you appreciate them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
