To "My Person" In Freshman Year

I couldn't have done it without you.

To "My Person" In Freshman Year
We Heart It

I don't think I will ever be able to thank you enough for everything you've brought into my life this past year. We have been through so much in these past eight months and I honestly don't think I could have done it without you.

That day we got dropped off, we were both lost. We were in a new place with new people. We didn't even know that each other existed let alone that we would become best friends in just a matter of time.

That first day we met, I knew there was something about you that I loved. Our conversations weren't forced, which is pretty rare during the "what's your major" and "where are you from" first week of college. It was so refreshing.

The weeks went on and our friendship continued to grow. Lunch dates, coffee dates, and Jesus talks became our norm. You were my first "go-to" person. If I didn't have someone to eat with or to go to church with, I knew I could count on you.

We have had so many stressful weeks this year, but it really helped knowing that you would always be down to go get ice cream. I think we consumed our entire body weight in sweets this year, but I wouldn't have wanted to do that with anyone else, and let's be real, it was a necessity.

This year had some heartbreak. A lot happens in a year, but I knew I could always count on you for a hug, a shoulder to cry on, or a late-night venting session on your bedroom floor. I have never met a more loyal and genuine person.

Your true self became revealed to me throughout this year and you are, in every way, one of the most beautiful people I know. Your heart and passion for Jesus absolutely radiates in everything you do. I have loved being able to grow with you this year as sisters in Christ. You have been such an inspiration to me in the way you live out your faith. Everything you say and do points to Jesus and gives Him the glory.

I never would have dreamed of meeting my best friend during the first week of classes. I am so thankful that we were brought together and that we have gotten to share so many memories this year. From lunch dates and stress-relieving hikes to ice cream dates and an insane amount of laughs, I wouldn't trade this year with you for anything.

Thank you for everything you are.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
