A letter to my ex-best friend,
I miss you. I miss everything about you. I miss all of the stupid things that we would do. I miss staying up so late in your room just sitting on our phones, not even talking to each other. It didn’t matter what we did, all that mattered was that we were together.
Thanks for being there. I will never be able to thank you for all of the advice that you gave me over those four years of our friendship. Even though you weren’t the best when it came to comforting me with your words while I cried over a stupid boy, you could comfort me in other ways. Thanks for the countless breakfasts in bed that you would make for me when I had a rough night the night before.
Thanks for making me a part of the family. Thank you for welcoming me into your crazy family with open arms. You gave me the opportunity to have a little brother and sister to torture - finally! We were so alike that if you got in trouble, we both did… and I was okay with that. I loved that we could have girl time with your mom, but also go hang out with your dad and his friends whenever we wanted to. It made me feel so special when I would just walk in the back door and your dad would question me about where I was and when I left. Thanks for loving me as a part of the family.
I will never forget our experiences. I will never forget sneaking outside to go hang out with the neighbors. Remember when we would stay up late and order a party-sized pizza and eat the whole thing?!?! Imagine if we tried to do that now! How about when we would walk across town to get Burger King? I'm so glad we can drive now. We would wake up in the morning and go all out doing our hair and makeup, just to walk around town and hope we would see someone we knew. I will never forget growing up and becoming our own people. Growing apart just happened to be a part of growing up, and I learned to accept that.
I hope you’re doing well in college. I miss you so much. Always remember that I will be here for you no matter what you need. I will never forget you.
Love,
Your ex-best friend
