To the one I love the most,

I pray for you every day. We all do. I wish that I could take your place and take your pain away. One thing I know for sure is that you're so much stronger than I would ever be in your position. It's crazy how you're the one going through all of this, yet you're the only one who hasn't shed a single tear. I hope you know that I, and all of your loved ones, are going to be here for you every step of the way.

Fearlessness and resilience. Two words with big meanings, both of which I would use to describe you. I've learned a lot from you, but the most important thing I have learned is not to take life too seriously. You've taught me that each tragedy we face in life is just going to be one of the many that life throws at us.

You've overcome every obstacle tossed your way with a smile on your face and your head held high. Despite the fact you've been to hell and back, you're still the happiest and kindest person I know. The way I've seen you handle these difficult situations has changed the way I look at you.

Somehow, you're presence brings a sense of comfort to everyone around you, and it may sound cliche, but it is because everyone can see God in you. There is something about you that no one can resist. It may be your contagious smile and laugh, or possibly the way you love and accept everyone with open arms. You make the bad days good, and the good days a little bit better.

Everything from watching you tell a joke, to seeing you comfort someone, are the small, but significant moments in which I realize, you truly are my angel on earth. Just like everyone else, you have your flaws, you get angry, you make mistakes, but unlike everyone else, you are the light of my life.

The strength you've demonstrated is incredible and has led us all to follow in your footsteps of optimism and toughness. I know it will only be a matter of time until you overcome this like you do everything else. It's not going to be easy but I know you will do it. After all, "God only puts boulders on the shoulders of his strongest soldiers."

Thank you for teaching me to love a little harder, laugh a little louder, and most importantly, live life to the fullest because it's a lot shorter than we think. I love you.

Love,

Your biggest fan

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
