To My Long Distance Best Friend,
Oh where do I start; we have always been long distance best friends. You lived in Memphis when I lived in Nashville, in high school we saw each other about every three weeks. So we managed with texting each other every day and knowing that we would see each other in about three weeks which felt like an eternity (which it wasn’t.) We have only known each other for about four years (I’ve lost count,) but it has felt like I have known you my whole life. I would trust you with my life if that event ever arose. You are my sister from another city, I love your family like they are my own and I know you feel the same about mine. I love your mama and sister to pieces they have become very important people to me. We spend a week together every summer and I love that time so much because then I don’t see you for about a month when we start school.
But this year was different than the rest, we started college such a big deal for both of us even though I only moved an hour away so then I was three hours from you which made me so excited. But your dream school was four hours away from Memphis which broke my heart knowing that you were going to be close to seven hours away from me but even in the midst of my sadness I couldn’t be prouder of you for going to a school like Millsaps, where I knew you loved it from the first you toured it and told me about it, I could just tell how happy you were to go there so I couldn’t be too sad knowing you were so happy and excited.
We aren’t the type to cry much in front of each other, we both know each other so well, so we don’t have to explain to the other if we are crying, we just need each other there hugging the other and that’s all we need. We don’t need to talk to make the other feel better we just need the presence of the other and I couldn’t ask more from you. We have matching tattoos and those are permanent things but I couldn’t think of a better person to share a tattoo with and know that you will always be by my side no matter what happens in life. I couldn’t ask for someone better to share my life experiences with. I want to thank you for always being a phone call and text away no matter how many miles separate us. I love our weekly FaceTime videos, they keep me sane each week and they always last for two hours or more.
I love you Bree, (yes I know I spell it differently than anyone else, I’m just special that way) you know everything about me and I know everything about you. Even though 411 miles separate us, I know if anything happened to me you would be where I was in a heartbeat. And I would do the same for you. No matter how many miles separate us it will never break us (cheesy right?)
But in all seriousness, Bree you’re my best friend no matter how far away you are. Never forget that. I love you sweet girl. <3
