If you’re anything like me, you’re counting down the days 'till the semester ends, and you're barely surviving. Final group projects are beginning and deadlines are approaching. Your planner is getting full, and the days seem like they're speeding by. As my mom says, "The end of the semester is where the men get separated from the boys." We've made is this far, and its important to end on a high note. Here's some advice and tips to finish the semester strong.
1. Don’t Procrastinate any longer
We’ve all been guilty of procrastination, but the end of the semester is no time to put off final projects and papers. As if the end of the semester isn’t stressful enough, believe me it gets 10x worse when you delay schoolwork.
2. Stay Organized
If you don’t have a planner or agenda yet, I advise you get one for the last few weeks of the semester. Especially if you have multiple classes. Planners are definitely a good way to keep your project deadlines, meetings, and test dates organized. Keeping a planner also makes you feel like you have your life together (even if you don't). Another thing I like to do to stay organized is make lists of anything, and everything that I need to get accomplished. Rank your lists with the most important things at the top, and don't end your day until everything is done! This will help you accomplish everything, and nothing feels better than crossing things off a list.
3. Get Enough Sleep
In the last few weeks of the semester sleep will become your new best friend. Some people think staying up all night is worth it to cram before a big exam, but I feel the exact opposite. It’s necessary to get a good nights sleep before a final exam or presentation. Staying up all night will give you more time to study, but could also hurt you worse in the end. Going into finals you want a clear head, and sleep will definitely help with that.
4. Reward Yourself
After a few days of studying hard, and finishing projects you deserve to relax a little. Whether it's grabbing a drink with friends, or just relaxing at home, it's important to give yourself a break. This will help get your mind off of the big exam or presentation, and loosen up.
5. Be Confident
Most importantly, BE CONFIDENT! A positive attitude and confidence can go a long way. Even if you feel unprepared for a presentation, or test it's important to do your best and have a good attitude. If you tell yourself you can, it's guaranteed your finals will run a lot smoother.
Even though the end of the semester can be a real struggle, using these tips can make it a little easier on yourself. Majority of the semester is over and only a few more weeks separate you from the summer. Stop with the procrastination, get organized, sleep, reward yourself and be confident and you can finish the semester strong. Good luck!
