As college students stress through the last few weeks of school, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s important. We become so overwhelmed with essays and deadlines that we forget to stop and appreciate the little things.
For this reason, I’ve decided to share some tips and tricks that I use to ensure my well-being during and after finals week.
Enjoy.
How do you find time in your day to calm down, de-stress, and really center yourself in order to push through the last couple of weeks of school?
That’s an excellent question, thank you. For me, I find a nice, quiet place with little to no lighting. Then I locate the nearest corner; preferably the one with the most cobwebs. I get down in fetal position with my face in the corner and I sob...heavily. Odds are, you won’t be the only one utilizing this stress-relieving practice, so it’s good to get to your special spot early or the better corners will be taken first. I would also advise bringing a blanket or towel of some sort, this will ensure a quick and easy cleanup of your tears.
I also recommend harvesting these tears in a jar or Tupperware container. Keep the tears in a place where you can see them: they will remind you of how weak you once were and will serve as an encouragement to be stronger.
Do you have any go-to meal preparations or recipes that you use during finals to make sure you’re getting all of the nutrients, but wasting none of the time?
Yes, great question. I meal prep about four weeks before finals. The great thing about my meal prep regimen is that it’s easy, cheap and delicious.
First, I head on up to the nearest second-hand clothing store and buy as many belts and fanny packs as I can find. I then assemble the belts and fanny packs into one large Fanny Belt--I’m working on a patent for that. So, whenever I cook throughout the weeks before finals, I take a portion of my meal and I put it in one of the fanny packs. Any and everything is good: chicken, pizza, tacos, ramen noodles; it’s quantity over quality in this case. I keep this up until all of my packs are full and then I store it in the fridge. When finals week comes around, I just strap on my Fanny Belt and eat on the go. It’s brilliant.
Staying confident for finals is key: how do you boost your self-esteem to ensure that you put forth your best effort?
You’re completely correct, confidence is key. It’s so important to keep your head up and remember how great you are. My self-esteem booster is fool-proof I love it.
I like to walk around campus with my right arm extended straight in front of me; my hand in pointing position. Whenever anyone is directly in my line of assertion, I simply exclaim: “I am so much better than you’ll ever be!” As the day goes on, and the more and more you say it, you’ll start to believe it. It really works.
What is a great way to recuperate after you’ve used lots of energy on final test, projects and presentations?
The best way to recuperate from something emotionally draining is to do something that equates to the labor you endured during the process of exhaustion. For this reason, after finals, I set my house on fire.
Thanks for reading, everyone, and happy finals week!
