A group of friends who I've always admired since I was little were Simba, Timon and Pumbaa. That movie was the epitome of childhood for me and I always liked the dynamic their group had. In a way, it seemed that they ebbed and flowed within each other's personalities. I never thought that I would find myself like Simba — having the pleasure to meet a couple of goofballs like Timon and Pumba.

I'm not comparing myself to Simba at all. I mean, my father did not die by the hands of my crazy uncle with a horrendous scar. Nor did I have to save an entire kingdom from a tribe of wildebeests. However, I do feel myself similar to Simba in the sense that I am trying to figure out who I am and achieve something great with the life I have been given. There are many people in my life who help me reach that goal, but I really want to give a true and big thank you to my real life Timon and Pumbaa because they deserve it.

To Timon: thank you for your comical and wisecracking nature. Thank you for being the voice of reason even when I would not listen.

You are the one who taught me that the effort you put into friendships matter. That people will still care about you even if you forget them or neglect them.

Thanks for being the person who gives the real advice, even if it is the hardest to hear. People often mistake your loud and blunt nature for being mean, but I know it is because you truly care and will speak you mind.

To Pumbaa: thank you for your friendly, loyal and protective personality. Thank you for being sassy, loud and bringing life to the people around you.

You are the one who taught me that life is no fun if you are not completely being yourself. That life is about the people and the experiences you put into them. You really have taught me that the phrase "Hakuna Matata" really does mean no worries for the rest of your days.

Thank you for being the person who really is there for me, through thick and thin. You have always been there for the good and the bad and go to great lengths to not only be a good friend but a mentor as well.

Thank you guys for all the memories and for really being there for me as I venture through life in college and life in general. I don't know what I would do without you guys and I am so glad to have you loyal, compassionate and funny dudes. You two make one of the funniest duos I have had the pleasure and honor of meeting. In the end, what is Simba without Timon and Pumbaa?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
