Close your eyes. Imagine what you want for yourself in five years from now. Now imagine what you want from yourself right now. Chances are you can dream more vividly about the future than the present. Why is that? Why do we set our dreams so far from reality that they seem unreachable? We are given each day to make the most of it, so we should do just that.
Reflecting on my college experience one thing that has always crossed my mind was the constant weight of time weighing over us. We spend each day focusing on an invisible deadline of where we are ‘supposed’ to be in life. We don’t embrace each day for what it is without thinking of what our next day ‘should’ be.
The truth is there is no map placed out that portrays which directions we’re suppose to go and exactly how were suppose to get there. There is no limit of time that tells us to stop pursuing our education or a set time frame for it to be done. The answer is simple. We won’t ever really know of where were going, we just enjoy the ride of getting there.
We need start embracing each moment of every day. We need to live a life that makes us feel unstoppable. Do what we want, when we want to do it. The fear of the future shouldn't stop us from taking chances and embracing the world around us. Don’t miss out on the love of a lifetime because you’re scared of the possibility it might not work. Don’t stress over getting that job, stress over finding a career that you love instead. Don’t stay in for the night because you don’t want to be tired in the morning. Be tired. Be silly. Get your heartbroken. Try ten different jobs to find one that makes you happy. Spend your money on the vacation you never took but always dreamed of. Eat the extra slice of pizza, workout tomorrow. Do everything possible in the moment you can. Because once it’s all taken away from you, there are no second chances to turn back and do the things you wish you had done.
Find balance in your life without the constant focus on a timeframe. Allow yourself to work hard but don’t ever allow work to take over you. Love for the right reasons and don’t settle for anything mediocre.
Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it.You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.
If clocks were nonexistent, could you say you made the most of your days?
