When I was in high school, I was in my church’s student choir. We were a show choir, so we danced and sang. It was a really big church, and there were a few hundred of us in the group. We would put on a production every fall in order to raise money for our summer mission trip in the following months, and the shows regularly sold out. It was mostly our moms buying tickets, but still, a sell out it a sell out.
It’s a Saturday night performance. Full house. The show is sold out. I was about to perform. I was backstage reviewing the choreography. I realized that I might not look right doing a specific move because I am really short and in the formation, I was surrounded by tall boys. I decided to lean backward during that move while everyone else would lean forward. I didn’t tell anybody what I was planning on doing.
The next thing that I knew, I was on stage performing. The move came. Everyone leaned forwards. I leaned backward. I immediately felt my hand connect with something. “Well this can’t be good,” I thought.
I turned around to see what my hand had connected with and I see my pointer finger is UP ONE OF THE BOY’S NOSTRILS! He looked really shocked and then disgusted. I laughed.
At least there were no boogers. Oooops. If you know me well, nothing about this is surprising to you, but that is how I ended up picking someone’s nose on stage during a sold-out performance!
