Recently, there has been a lot of buzz and news on the idea of California splitting up into three different states: California, Northern California and Southern California. Although many people may think that this is because of the rivalry between Northern California and Southern California, this radical plan has estimated data and statistics dealing with education, taxes and more.
There were many sponsors of this radical plan, and they believe that it can provide better infrastructure, education and lower taxes. However, aside from that, I feel the rivalry and pressure between the different regions of California are still extremely prevalent.
Having grown up my whole life in Los Angeles and Orange County, the idea of California splitting up has been in the back of my mind as somewhat ridiculous, but it is daunting that this idea is a radical plan that is being supported by many. Personally, I am not extremely affected by this as of now in that I am a college student who attends university in a different state.
However, it is a bit sad to see my home be split up into three different states. Although this won't pose any major territorial changes, it will feel different because just like a home, it should never be divided into regions. A home is a place where everyone should feel and be connected, but with the three different states of California, if it gets fully supported and passed, will be separated.
There is a lot of politics as to why many are supporting this decision. The reasons range from education to taxes and how three different regions can result in better infrastructure. This radical plan of splitting stems from political and social issues that can create better lives for the citizens of California and those living in the specific regions.
Especially in California, depending on where you live, the education quality varies from low-quality education to really high-quality education. Because of this, there have been many trials and attempts to reform the education system in California, and the splitting of California into three different states also tries to attempt to solve this education disparity problem that is extremely prevalent.
Overall, with the many political and social implications to the radical plan of splitting California into three different states, it is quite sad to see my home going through such a split to help solve multiple problems on the societal and governmental level.
