Three Lessons I Learned My First Week Of Junior Year

This week I successfully finished my first week of junior year in high school, and I absolutely loved it. Everyone always says that it's the worst year to go through, but personally, I find it to be the start of a great year. In just the first week I have learned so many new things, and I thought I would share them with you.

1. The teachers treat you with a new level of respect

It astonished me that they all seemed so welcoming and kind, but also joked around. It's such an incredibly new experience but a fantastic feeling that makes the day so much easier.

2. Once you find your favorite class, the rest of your classes don't seem so hard

The classes leading up to your favorite class are great because you are so excited about the class, and then you're in a happy mood for the rest of your classes. It's just another small thing that can make your day so much better.

3. Find your passion

High school can be a terrifying place, but with a passion that drives you, it is great. I've found mine in theatre and have never loved high school more.

I can't believe how great this year has been so far and it has only been the first week. I'd truly like to thank my incredible family and my best friend for all the support in this journey through high school, because without them I would never have gotten to the place I am. To all of you going into high school, I wish you the best of luck. It truly is a fantastic time, and to all of you who are in it, keep doing everything you can and make the most of it, because before you know it, it's over. I know I've loved every minute.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
