Was it worth all of the hype? To put it as simply as I can, yes. To put it in the most dramatic, #softpost way I can, it was almost as good as going to Disney World for the first time, and I promise, I am not exaggerating in the slightest. (Okay, maybe a little).
In all honesty, I had no idea what to expect when I stepped onto the campus of the University of Alabama for the first time a year ago this weekend. Everything was so different than the schools up north; for example, girls wore t-shirts that came down to their mid thigh and most people said "y'all" in a casual conversation without thinking twice about it.
But, what I did know right off the bat is that I never wanted to leave. The second my eyes locked with Bryant-Denny Stadium, it was love at first sight. I knew I didn't want to spend the next four years of my young adult life anywhere else. This was it. This was my new home, and I was going to be screaming "Roll Tide!" every chance I got.
A few days ago I realized it had almost been a year since I took my tour here at UA, and it amazes me how fast time has flown by. Even then, my wide-eyed self would have never imagined creating a home and a life for myself 1,000 miles away from everything I've ever known.
This school has given me so much to be grateful for, and it is oftentimes hard to put into words. It is by far my favorite place in the world, and I thank God every day that I am lucky enough to call it my home. My life has not been the same since I stepped foot on this beautiful campus and I wouldn't have done it any other way. So thank you, Alabama, for giving me the best seven months of my life. Here's to many, many more at the best school on earth! As always, Roll Tide!
