When you’re a baseball fan, the words “Opening Day” have an entirely different meaning. It builds excitement in your chest, the image of bleachers full of fans dances in your mind and the smell of your favorite ballpark creeps into every thought. Now, if you are a true MLB fan – you will know the following thoughts all too well:
This is “our” year
Every fan is always confident in their favorite team, and at the beginning of the season, they are always extremely confident that this season will be the one where their favorite team wins the World Series. Fans parade around in their “lucky” team apparel and rattle stats – proving why their team will win it all this year.
Wow, he was a better trade than I thought
Teams trade players all the time – often causing fans to be upset that their favorite player is no longer on their favorite team’s roster. However, the player that fans are mad about for joining the roster, often surprises them. That player occasionally captures the heart of the fan base, and causes them to regret all of the mean things they said about him.
I can’t wait to spend my summer at the ballpark
A true fan goes to games, runs stats and follows their favorite teams like it’s their day job. As Opening Day approaches, the excitement to sit in your favorite seat in the ballpark increases daily. You look at the schedule and plan each of the games you just have to see – even though it usually results in almost all of them.
With Opening Day happening on Sunday, the anticipation of the first pitch is on the mind of MLB fans everywhere. To us, this is a national holiday – one that includes America’s past time. So, tell me, who is going to win it all this season?
