This Spring's Much Needed Fashion Pieces

You look as fresh and polished as a springtime flower.

Here in North Dakota, it's hard to know when Spring really starts. Spring break starts in two days, but does it really look like Spring? Nah.

The ground is covered in weird ice patches, and when I walk outside, I still have to bury my hands in the pockets of my big marshmallow coat.

I'd say rather than being able to see the physical signs of spring emerging, I feel the psychological signs. As in, it seems like I had ages to figure out what I want to do this summer, but all the sudden I have like two months. I've been applying to internships, but I am the worst at making decisions...

My mom has always told me that if you look good, you feel good. And feeling good is necessary for easily stressed college students. Here are some fashion staples for spring that will work regardless of the climate you live in.

1. Slip-ons

Slip-ons, especially in this blush pink color, are my new obsession. They look perfect with cuffed boyfriend jeans!

2. High-waisted shorts

These are adorable and they hug the smallest part of your waist. If you live in a colder climate, wear them with tights!

3. Overall dress

I have one of these in black, and it's the best! I like wearing it with striped sweaters underneath or a plain white tee. You can always add tights, too.

4. Bright pants

My favorite color for bright pants is hot pink because it pairs perfectly with a black shirt and black flats. I've worn almost this exact outfit to a sorority meeting and would wear it again.

5. Kimonos

I love kimonos for a laid-back but still very girly look. Wear it with skinny jeans and you'll look amazing.

6. A vest

Colorful vests like this one are so fun and totally change the whole outfit! I highly recommend pairing it with ballet flats and a turtleneck of some sort.

7. Mom jeans

I love my mom jeans so much. They make me feel like Rachel Green, and they can be worn with Doc Martens or Converse, depending on your mood. They can also be worn with either a chunky sweater or simple tee.

8. Floral boots

I might not own these yet, but I will. Way too adorable. You can wear them with tights and a black T-shirt dress, or jeans and a black or white sweater.

9. Peplum top

Peplum tops look amazing with white jeans and booties! So springy.

10. Camel skirt

A simple camel-colored skirt slays the game because it looks great with button-up shirts tucked into it or just paired with your favorite casual T-shirt and sandals. You can dress it up or down!

These fashion pieces really capture the essence of spring, in my opinion. Try them out, and you'll look as fresh and polished as a springtime flower!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
