Remember when we first met?
"Hey my name is…"
But then forgot just moments later
After familiarity, it became easy
The easy names turned into conversations that turned into friendships
The best friendships
These friendships turned into lunch dates
That turned into late night talks
That turned into questions about Jesus & life
These friendships turned into YL Camp journeys
Into endless fall swaps
Into weekly Taco Mama dates
Into daily walks on the Quad
Into grinding homework sessions
Into phone calls when we're apart
They changed from "Hey what's up" to "Hey how are you feeling today"
They changed from just a conversation about the weather to a conversation about our future kids names
They changed from awkward forced relationships to genuine, intentional friendships
The nights we stayed up for hours goofing off instead of studying
The days we spent riding around with the windows down and listening to music
The hours we spent just laying in silence not saying a word but enjoying each others company
These are the moments that matter
It's not what we do
How much we do
Or when we do it
Its the time we spent together
These past 9 months have been full of
Laughter
Grace
And ultimate joy
Something that is almost a slice of Heaven
We live in community
Literally
Community bathrooms, but
We not only live together, but we do life
Together
We are a team, a unit, a family
And we can't be compromised
We see each other at our weakest when we just can't make it to class
We see each other at our best when we get that position we worked so hard for
We help each other without asking
We give gracefully without ceasing
Because that is what friends do
For the times when our giggles lasted for hours
For the times we ran to frat row because we thought we would be late to the band parties (We never were)
For the times we visited each others hometowns
For the times we made fun of our disgusting dorm (lice and ticks)
For the times we have shared over the last 9 months
These are the times we will never forget
So as we all go home for the summer,
Reminiscing on the memories we have made this year
Just remember
You will never have another like this one
You will never live in the same building with all your best friends ever again
You will never eat pizza sloppily before dancing the night away in a nasty frat basement
You will never get these moments back
So
Remember this year
These memories
Those laugh until we cry moments
Because those were for us
These friendships are for us
This feeling is for us
This first year of college was for us
And now we have three more of these years, just for us
