16 Things You Know You Did As A Middle Schooler

Middle schoolers of the early 2000s were part of an extremely awkward and unique era. From tragic fashion choices to strange ways of spending their free time, these middle schoolers weren’t like the middle schoolers of today, who somehow escaped the awkward phase everyone is supposed to suffer through in life. Here are 16 things you know you did as a middle schooler in the early 2000s.

1. You liked every page you saw on Facebook.

They haunt your Facebook feed to this day.

2. You edited all of your photos with Picnik.

Placing words and symbols on a photo was way too exciting. Note: This picture was taken with Photo Booth in an Apple store, because why else would you go into an Apple store?

3. You wore Aeropostale, Delia's, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

And don't forget Hollister! Maybe a few of your hottest Limited Too pieces made it into your sixth-grade wardrobe, as well.

4. You danced like this at dances.

Too much PDA. Hand check!

5. You wore every bracelet you owned all at once.

"Boobie" bracelets, friendship bracelets, pop top bracelets, Silly Bandz, you name it.

6. You spent hours taking photos on Photo Booth.

Webcams for the win, am I right? All of the cool kids used the thermal filter.

7. You chatted up randos on Omegle.

This one is for all of the rebellious middle schoolers out there! Looking back at this, I’m actually quite disturbed. Just think, this was around the time that everyone was still playing with Webkinz.

8. You changed the design of apps on your phone.

You made them so pretty! Bling, bling.

9. You communicated with your besties on AIM.

Such an amazing way to communicate.

10. You wore chokers like this.

This trend is coming back, though! What will we all think of it in the next few years when it's no longer a thing again?

11. Gel pens were your pride and joy.

You were extremely picky about who could and could not borrow your super cool gel pens.

12. You threw up peace signs in every photo like it was your job.

You get a peace sign! You get a peace sign! Everybody gets a peace sign!

13. You wore Bermuda shorts.

Probably not by choice.

14. You rocked a side pony.

If your ponies were any further to the side, you'd look like a unicorn.

15. You wore hair feathers and experimented with hair dye.

Hair feathers and a single colored hair stripe (preferably red or purple) made you look like such a rebel. So thrilling.

16. You owned a lot of Vera Bradley.

You had (and still have?) tote bags, duffel bags, wallets and phone cases from Vera Bradley. But, most importantly, you had more than one Vera Bradley lunch box. Your lunch always traveled in style.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
