The Tri-State Area of Pa., N.J. and De. is home to some of the best events of the East Coast Aside from in New York City. Between Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware (yes, even Delaware) this trio of states is sure to gives you things to do to make your summer one to remember.
1. Delaware State Fair
Located in Harrington, DE July 21st-30th, this state fair never disappoints. They have a carnival with rides for all ages and tickets are even pretty cheap. If you go on a weekday, unlimited riding wristbands are $22 and on the weekends, they're $25. If you're not into rides, no worries, they also have a medley concerts each year. This year some of the performers include Jake Owen, Little Big Town Alabama and X Ambassadors. Even if you don't like concerts or rides, your appetite is sure to be pleased with over 100 food trucks and food options.
2. Beat the Clock at Bar Anticipation (Bar A)
Every Tuesday of the summer Bar Anticipation in Belmar NJ hosts a “Beat The Clock” event. Bud Light Drafts start at $.50 at 8 P.M. and go up by $.25 every hour until midnight. For those 21 and over, this is a great way to have fun without spending a ton of money.
3. White Water Rafting down the Delaware Water Gap
There is almost always deals for rafting, and this is a great time whether you're with family or friends.
4. Dave and Busters
This is basically a Chucky Cheese for adults. With a great restaurant, a bar for the over 21, an adult arcade and even an adult version of a prize counter, everyone is bound to have fun. They are located right in Philly, and they offer have priced games on Wednesdays.
5. Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival
One of Monmouth County's most popular events is their Food Truck Festival in Monmouth Park. It’s a day of standing in the heat for an hour for food. It doesn’t sound that appealing, but the food is that good that it definitely justifies the wait time.
6. Hot 97’s Summer Jam
If you love hip-hop and R&B, one of the best concerts you can see at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ is Summer Jam on June 5th. Some of this year's top performers include Big Sean, DJ Khaled & Friends, A$AP Rocky, Kid Ink, Tinashe, and Chance the Rapper. Tickets start around $60 and can be as much as $1150 for some of the best seats.
7. New Jersey Seafood Festival
Another Belmar favorite for the summer is the NJ Seafood Festival. Held a small distance from the beach, this event attracts thousands. Food trucks, restaurants, beach themed retail stores all congregate to enjoy a day of crab meat and shrimp foods.
8. Firefly Music Festival
Over the past few years Firefly Music Festival has turned into a area wide recognized concert. Many who have attended this four-day party binge will tell you that it's an experience you cant explain, but you want to have. Although concert and camping tickets are pricey, the huge array of genres, and the friendliness of all the concert goers, make the $300-$400 cost worth it.
9.Slide the City
Slide the City is a traveling company that makes its way to different cities to throw a giant slip and slide party in the streets. For only $30 ($25 if you register early!) sliders get a full day unlimited pass along with a tube, a mouth guard, and a drawstring bag. 10. Zip Lining
Located in Bear, DE Lum's Pond is home to "Go Ape!" ziplining and obstacle course. The course takes about two to three hours to complete and will cost you around $60.
11. Beaches, Beaches and more Beaches
Whether you know Jersey Beaches from watching Jersey Shore or have gotten to experience the medley of Beaches the wonderful state has to offer for yourself, New Jersey beaches always make for a great time. Most don't realize it, but Delaware is also home to some of the nicest beaches on the East coast. Whether you want to go to Cape Henlopen for a nice waves, Rehoboth for the boardwalk or Dewey for the party scene, you can't go wrong with whichever you choose.
