When falling in love with an artist, there are several things you should know. One of those being, knowing everything that falls under the title of artist. Most people believe that artists are simply painters such as Picasso and Van Gogh, but even artists such as Da Vinci were not limited to painting, he was also a scientist. What I'm trying to say is that we are not limited to painting and sketching. Not all artists can sketch. Some even pride themselves that they can't. Yes, these are the foundations, the basics, but there is so much more.
To be an artist is to be a creator. Some artists might create magnificent sculptures, where some of them create beautifully intricate cathedrals and that is honestly taken for granted. They are the animators in your favorite childhood movies. They are the characters on stage that bring stories to life. They are the young boys and girls dancing in the streets of performing in their worn down pointe shoes. They are the designers of your theme park roller coasters.They are the dreamers of your wildest imaginations and deliver it to you on paper. Another thing taken for granted is that not all artists create wonderful works that are visual.
Some artists create works that you hear. These works are the ones that beat and drum through peoples souls. This art, is music. Music is one of the oldest forms of art. It has been the french horn in a symphony hall, the bass in a jazz club, it has been the drums of war and the rhythm of our ancestors. Music is love, it is passion, is the air that we breathe whether you believe it or not.
Another thing to know, when you've fallen in love with an artist is that you have to be understanding. I can not stress this enough. Everyone has bad days, but we take take them a little harder than others. When we lose our inspiration, it is like all hell has broken loose. We may throw tantrums, start screaming or even dramatically throw ourselves onto a couch like Vivien Liegh. Yes sometimes we are over bearing, and i mean really over bearing. Yes we can be a little dramatic and even a bit feisty. But I promise we are some of the most loyal, honest and entertaining people that you could ever surround yourself with. So if you are ever fortunate enough to fall in love with an artist, take care of them, treasure them. They are very hard working and wonderful people I mean that. We will never take you for granted. We will love loud, full, deeply and proudly. Don't ever forget that.
