We've all had those days! You had plans to go out somewhere and the rain comes and ruins it. Or maybe you didn't have any set plans but now you're at a loss of what to do. It's OK because we have some suggestions of what to do when the gloomy rain comes in and steals all of the cheerful sunshine. Whether you're going solo or with a group of friends, whether you need to be actively doing something or you're fine with being relaxed, whether you want to take a journey through your childhood or want to do something more age appropriate, we've got you covered!
1. Curl up with a good book and read.
Find a nice book and a cozy chair and you're all set! It's even better if you can find a comfy spot somewhere outside on a porch where you can stay dry. It's so relaxing listening to the rain fall.
2. Go for a drive and blast your music.
This really depends on how the driving conditions are with the rain but it's great nonetheless. Just crank up the music and go. I love blasting Adele while driving around and having my own mini concert.
3. Play video games.
They say to go outside but how can you when it's raining? That's right, you can't. So, you get to play those video games that you wanted to play all along. There's always an upside to every downside, right?
4. Sleep
Sleep, yes. It's actually the best thing ever. Snuggle up in bed and fall asleep to the sound of the rain falling down.
5. Watch movies or go on a a Netflix binge.
Personally, this is my favorite thing to do on a rainy day. Cuddle up in bed with your significant other (or in my case, my dog) and watch your favorite movie or show. My personal recommendations would be the "Harry Potter" series, "Criminal Minds" or "White Collar."
6. Bake cookies.
What's better to combat the cold and wet rain than some warm and soft cookies? Absolutely nothing. So, put your chef's hat on and start baking!
7. Study for school.
Why not add to the sadness of rain with some good ol' studying? Let's be honest—you aren't going to study any other time so why not try to when there's nothing else to do?
8. Play Cards Against Humanity.
Who doesn't like Cards Against Humanity? People who you don't want to associate with do. Cards Against Humanity is guaranteed to make you cheerful even on the gloomiest days.
9. Spa Day.
For a broke college kid, this really means to take a nice, long bubble bath which is perfectly acceptable, in my opinion. You get a full day all to yourself. When do you ever get that? That's right, never. So take full advantage of it when you can.
10. Clean.
I know we don't ever want to do it but when it's raining, what other choices do you have? There's no time like the present to put some order in your life. Besides, who wants to hang around in a dirty house all day when it's rainy? Nobody.
11. Build a blanket fort.
Go back in time to your younger days and take over your bedroom or living room with thousands (OK, maybe not thousands but a lot) of blankets and pillows. It's nice to hide away for a little bit and go back in time. What better time to do this than a rainy day?
