11 Things That You Miss About Your Roommate

Feeling dorm sick? Or should I say roommate sick?

11 Things That You Miss About Your Roommate
Ky Holifield

You don't realize what you're missing until it's gone. This also happens with your roommate who you have bonded with for five months. My roommate is actually going to be gone and I won't see her again, unless I go to Chicago—I will be getting a new roommate come January. Here are things you will miss about your roommate while you are home for the holidays.

1. You miss having someone stay up with you until 3 a.m.

How my roommate and I bond is by staying up late together while talking and watching Netflix. We don't see each other during the day so much because both of us have classes, but after class we always talk about our day and watch Netflix.

2. Your roommate will go to the dining hall with you at 2 a.m. because you are both hungry.

But then you realized that the dining hall is disgusting so you both just cooked ramen.

3. Both of you have watched a show together.

We have watched "Being Human" together on Netflix, and watched "The Voice," "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Jungle Book." Who is going to watch shows with me now?

4. That fact that we both love sleeping.

I love sleeping. I can sleep all day and be fine with it. I also take naps on Mondays and Wednesdays after my class. My roommate started to sleep in and she loves sleeping too. Now is my new roommate going to do this with me?

5. You always have someone with you to hang out with if your other friends are busy with their life.

You are always there for each other. I can always rely on my roommate to keep me company. I hope my new roommate is my best friend.

6. You can ask the dumbest questions and not get judged.

Likely she will judge you, but it's OK—she will judge you when you turn around. I really hope my new roommate is OK with this, too.

7. You have someone to look like a hobo with.

At least both of us will be a hot mess together.

8. Having someone to ask about your outfit before you go out.

I always double check with my roommate if I look good or not.

9. Trash-talking about your hallmates.

When you are in a Living Learning Community and know everyone in your hall, you get annoyed with some people, so you have to talk it out with someone.

10. Having someone to edit your article of the week for Odyssey before you turn it in to the managing editor.

Who is supposed to look over my article each week and see what mistakes I made, such as grammar, punctuation or just simple mistakes?

11. My friends became her friends, so she has twice the friends.

At first it was MAAN ( go back to the article "A trip with MA"), then it became DMAAN (Deja, Maribeth, Andrea, Ashlee and Nicolay).

I am going to miss you and I hope you visit USF soon and come to Jacksonville and visit me and I will visit you in Chicago.

I love you roomie, or should I say ex-roomie?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
