Things That Keep Me Goin'

You guessed right, my cats are one

There are certain places, people, animals and other nouns that keep a person going every day. Sometimes it's knowing that you work for the weekend, and you're okay with that. Some people work for their kids and loved ones. Other people work for the five cats that they love unconditionally and are seemingly named after their favorite book characters. Other people just love to be busy and make themselves so. Well, I have a few reasons that I get going every day, and there are a few things that make my life easier to manage.

1. Completing my capstone course

I am taking my English capstone course, which is a fancy way of saying I'm doing my thesis and senior portfolio. Once I finish this up, the rest of my college degree will be a cakewalk. It will be the end of my undergraduate career and opening up a whole new world for me to enter, become instantly overwhelmed and then seek guidance in.

2. My cats

While my cats are not named after my favorite book characters, I do what I do for them in a way too. If I stopped doing my daily activities, they would probably die. Brutal but simple. Cats need love and affection just as much as the next person, sometimes more so, and I am definitely willing to give it to them. They don't talk as much as people.

3. Asana

Asana what? Asana who? Very recently, I was introduced to a project managing website/app combo that helps you organize tasks. You can create a project and put tasks inside, and even collaborate with other people on the same project and assign things individually. It sends emails and notifications on your phone to remind you when you have a due date sneaking up that you forgot about.

4. My loved ones

I better put this one on here I suppose. I do love em' all.

5. I like going about my day

While more often than not I would rather be doing something else other than my current activity, I like my days. They are interesting and lively. There is something new to experiecne every day you walk outside your door.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
