If you are anything like me, the sign above this text is the best sign you see on the New York State Thruway on your way home to Buffalo. I love my college experience and being away from home, but sometimes it is truly difficult to be away from my hometown and my family.

The pride and love of everyone who is part of our City of Good Neighbors will definitely touch your heart as soon as you enter our city. Here are some things to get excited about as the spring semester starts to come to a close.

1. The food

Chris Clemens - Exploring Upstate

Everyone I know has at least tried chicken wings in their college town and knows their chicken wing love is back home in Buffalo. Whether it's ETS, Duff's, Ted's, Mighty Taco, LaNova Pizza, Jim's Steakout (need I go on?), I know I am going to be so excited to have Buffalo take over my taste buds again.

2. Canalside

Who's ready for free concerts and exercise classes by the water? I know I am!

3. Food Truck Tuesday

Yes, I know that this goes along with the Buffalo food I mentioned before. But Buffalo food is so good; I just couldn't wait to mention it again. During the summer, you can't forget to go to Larkin Square to grab some tasty food from your favorites such as Lloyd's Tacos!

4. Architecture

I'm sure we all go to colleges that are in beautiful cities. I just don't think any architecture ever will compare to Buffalo's. I always look forward to coming home and being able to look at all the beautiful art as I drive around.

5. Cheerios

I actually missing driving on the Skyway and being able to smell the Cheerios. My city smells like Cheerios. Are you jealous?

6. Baseball

Since there's no football or hockey to get excited about yet. We might as well go get some peanuts and cracker jacks and cheer on the Bisons!

7. The Buffalo Zoo

The zoo is really fun for all ages. With the new baby lion that was just born, who could resist stopping by this summer?

8. Elmwood Village

Great food and cool places to shop! What more could you ask for?

9. Tim Hortons

I know I am very fortunate to be able to have a Tim Hortons in Rochester while I am away at school. I know a lot of you are not as fortunate and are very excited to have an iced capp back in your hands.

10. Paula's Donuts

Yes, I know more food, but I think I saved the best for last! These donuts are seriously the best, and not one donut could compare — that's why they deserve their own category on this list.

Buffalo,

I'm coming for ya, don't you worry.

Love, Claudia

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
