Everyone is talking about this years Presidential election. Obviously, it is very important because regardless of whoever gets elected as President, the election will have a major impact on the United States. With election day near, here are things to remember during this election season.
1. Don't Be A Terrible Person
Did you know attacking people for their beliefs is something America is historically against? (At least on paper). Stop referring to people voting for someone you are not as stupid, or immoral, or whatever other insult you've decided to use. Talk about the candidate, not their supporters. Also, it makes you seem a bit jerkish.
2. Compromise
Our nation was founded on compromises, and I can name a few just off the top of my head - the 3/5 compromise, the Missouri compromise, and the Compromise of 1850 (I did have to look up the date for that one). In other words, the my way of the highway mentality doesn't fly in a functioning democracy. Bipartisanism is a beautiful thing.
3. We All Have To Live With Each Other After The Election
Don't burn bridges with the people you have to eat Thanksgiving dinner with.
4. Stop Posting Obviously Fake Clickbait Election Articles
I'm real tired of seeing Hillary Clinton obviously photo shopped into pictures of ISIS or the most unflattering picture of Donald Trump you can find. It's not real. Stop making me hate Facebook more than I already do.
5. Talk About Important Issues
Let's talk about the candidate's positions on the issues not about what shirt Melanie wore to the debate or who Hillary may have had killed. (John F Kennedy Jr. died in a plane accident guys).
6. Watch the Debates
Watch the debates and come up with your own conclusions, don't watch news coverage or listen to other people's opinions and go with them. Watch the actual debate and have your own actual thoughts on the debate.
7. Stop talking about Bill Clinton
For the love of god stop talking this much about Bill Clinton, the man is not running for President. Yes, he and Hillary are married and have similar stances on things, but they are not the same person. Only talk about Bill Clinton as much as you talk about Melania Trump.
8. Respect People's Rights
People can vote for whoever they want to even if you don't agree with them. I am not a Trump supporter (if you couldn't tell) and while I may not agree with your choice of President I'm not going to stop you from voting - unless you actual believe in repealing the 19th Amendment.
9. Learning Time!
Use this election season to learn more about the election process, our government, and just how everything works. The American government is not run the same as a business; things just can't be done. Making a new law is an arduous process, remember the I'm Just a Bill song from School House Rock?
10. Local Elections

11. Vote
Vote, just vote.
