Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

12 Things That Might Happen When You Go On Vacation

Summer is the time for vacations. Families are out and about, traveling and making memories with their spouses and kids. Some of these memories, however, are not always fun when they happen. Sure you may look back on it and laugh, but at the time it can be a real pain in the rear. When you plan a vacation chances are you will have something go wrong. You never know when it will happen or what it will be, but it is inevitable: something will happen.

1. Car Problems

You will go a whole year without a single problem happening with your car. Then all of a sudden you have blown a tire, mechanical problems, and the “check engine” light appears.

2. Lost Phone

It is inevitable really. Someone will lose their cell phone for a short time on your trip. Just pray you don’t realize it when you are halfway home…

3. Lost Money

This can go either way. For my family it usually means the slot machines were not in our favor. For others it can mean a lost bundle of cash. Neither are very fun.

4. Periods

Am I right, ladies?

5. Sickness

You may have been feeling great all month long, but as soon as you go on vacation you either get a cold or get a nasty flu virus.

6. Hard Beds

Seriously. Do hotels go to furniture stores and find the hardest beds they can find for their hotel rooms?!

7. Trolley Probs

Have you ever waited for a trolley to show up after being told it would come, only to realize two hours later that they were big fat liars?

8. Someone Gets Hurt

Whether it is from wrecking your bike riding down a hill, stabbing yourself with a fishing hook or burning yourself at the campfire, you may want to pack a first aid kit just in case.

9. Weather

You have checked a million times before you left for vacation and packed all the necessary clothing, but the weather does its own thing.

10. Getting Lost

There is always a brief amount of time spent searching for the correct route while on vacation. In my case, this happens when my mom drives.

11. Accidents at Home

It never fails. When you are away on vacation something always goes wrong at home.

12. Excitement at Home

On the flip side, however, usually when you are on vacation your boring hometown decides to do something extremely cool.

Vacations are a very fun and exciting time. Though things do go wrong at times, you may look back to these catastrophes in the future and get a kick out of it… eventually… maybe.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
