5 Things Every Girl Should Tell Themselves Everyday

If you're a girl, you know that it can be glamorous. Manicures, pedicures, make-up, hair straighteners, hair curlers, jewelry, high heels - you name it. It can be so fun to dress up, get all glammed-up, and take selfies. However, being a girl can be hard. Being a girl means nit-picking, over analyzing, criticizing everything about ourselves, and saying some not so nice things. This is a bad habit almost all girls have gone through in their lives whether it was at age 13 or 23, it happens, it's normal, but it doesn't mean it's okay.

Girls shouldn't be staring at themselves in the mirror for hours, or taking pictures and hating on themselves, instead, they should be telling themselves these five things everyday.

1. I'm Beautiful

No it's not conceited, it doesn't make you full of yourself, but it sure as heck is better than saying the opposite. Plus, the more you say something, the more you start to believe it, and every girl deserves to think that she is beautiful, every single day. It's easy to compare yourself to other people, especially with all of the social media we have these days, you're always scrolling across models, celebrities, athletes, and sometimes we doubt ourselves, so don't compare yourself to the beauty of others, because you have your very own.

2. I'm More Than A Body

This couldn't be more true. You are more than the amount of skin you have on your bones, more than the size of your butt, or the rolls on your stomach. Don't calculate your self worth based on what the scale says, or how your clothes fit. Everybody, and every body is different, and it doesn't matter which one you have, because you are much more than that.

3. I'm Loved

There's no harm in reminding yourself that you are loved by your friends, and your family. In fact, it can be really soothing to just think about all the love you're surrounded by and how those people care so much about you and only want to watch you be happy and succeed in life.

4. I'm Smart

Regardless of anything, you are a smart human being and your knowledge is something to be proud of. Once again, saying this to yourself will really make you believe it and even put those smarts to good use.

5. I Love Myself

This one might be the most important one, because after all, if you don't love yourself, it makes all the rest of the things really hard to say. It takes time, and you might not believe all this stuff every single day, but I promise if you take the time to look in the mirror and say these things instead of scrutinizing yourself, it will make your life so much better and your outlook on things.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
