After three and a half long months of binge drinking, crappy cafeteria food, all nighters in the library, hooking up with rando's at the bar and sleep deprivation the time is near. This is the time when you pack up your life for five to six days, hug your suitemates and friends goodbye and run out of your dorm like a bat out of hell. Why so eager to leave? Because Thanksgiving break, that's why.
Although I love my college, and I love my friends so much that it physically pains my heart, there comes a time where a gal just needs to go home. Personally, I'm going to have major separation anxiety from all my pals and probably text them every single day 24/7, but home is where the heart is (and also where my king size bed is). So here are some things that every college student is looking forward to this Thanksgiving break:
1. Showers that you can take without flip flops.
2. Walking around your own room naked and loving every nudist second of it.
3. Bathrooms that you don't need to share with 20 extra girls and that random kid named Creepy Sean that likes to try to sneak into the ladies room on your floor.
4. Naps on your couch, in your bed, in your parent's bed and in your friend's bed. Naps literally anywhere besides class or on the library floor.
5. Any type of meal that isn't cooked in the cafeteria or heated up in a microwave. No more sad sandwiches for me.
6. Mornings that you can wake up peacefully without an alarm clock unlike during school when your alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m. and you feel like you're in boot camp.
7. A week restraining from drinking. It's harder than it looks, but your liver and alcohol tolerance will thank you afterwards.
8. Having your mom do all of your laundry that you've been saving up specifically for Thanksgiving break.
9. Being able to catch up on your television shows for 12+ hours a day without feeling guilty.
10. Waking up in the morning, taking a shower and then changing into clean pajamas. Repeat during the entire Thanksgiving break.
11. Not wearing makeup and giving your face a break. You're allowed to look ugly in your own home.
12. The only time you don't have to worry about the dreaded, blasphemous word "finals."
13. Or worrying if you really are going to get an actual F in microbiology. Thanks, you're the cause of my Thanksgiving stress eating.
14. Speaking of Thanksgiving stress eating, think of all the leftovers you can take back to school after Thanksgiving dinner.
15. Your grandparents slipping you $20 under the dinner table like a low key drug transaction.
16. Going to the mall on Black Friday and seeing your old neighbor's second cousin twice removed who just so happens to be your 11th grade chemistry teacher from high school who married your best friend's cousin, Joe.
17. Not waking up in the morning and realizing you've 100% lost your dignity while you make your walk of shame across the building.
18. You can force your puppy or kitten to snuggle with you like Lenny from Of Mice and Men.
19. You won't hear your roommate throwing up at 3 a.m. because she can't handle her tequila.
20. No loud jersey club music.
21. Actually, being home will be awkwardly quiet compared to being at school.
22. You can spend so much time with your family. Mainly your mom because she won't stop hugging you because she missed you so much.
23. You and your home friends sit down and binge eat cookies while gossiping about their semesters thus far.
24. You can sleep in your own bed and cuddle your four stuffed animals without feeling like a small child.
25. Being home warms the soul, and by the end of the week you'll be counting down the hours until you go back to school to end the semester with a handle of Green Apple Smirnoff and a bang. By bang I mean a literal one, not metaphorical. Sorry, not sorry.
