Long distance relationships are always different based on the two people who are living through it. Honestly it SUCKS sometimes, but overall i'm glad we've had a little bit of distance because it had to happen at some point. These are the ten things that absolutely no one told me about being in a long distance relationship beforehand.

1. Facetiming gets lame sometimes!!

Personal Image

As much as it's amazing to see my boyfriend's face, sometimes it gets a little boring when we talk about our days to the point where I begin to repeat myself and I forget that i'm even telling him the same thing over and over. Don't get me wrong, it's very entertaining and gives us a good laugh when we both are telling each other the same things about our day over and over but it gets lame after a while.

2. Airport reunions rock and make for funny stories too!

Personal Image

Airport reunions are honestly one of the perks of being in a long distance relationship that requires an airplane. The overwhelming feeling of happiness that I get when i'm able to see my boyfriend as he gets off of the plane, or I do is the best. But sometimes those reunions aren't executed perfectly and someone gets lost in the airport or a plane is delayed which actually makes it pretty funny story to tell.

3. Meeting each others friends and family means so much more

Personal Image

Friends and family are the most important aspects of anyone's life and when your significant other gets to meet the people that truly make you the happiest, it changes your life. With the closest people in your life hearing about your boyfriend all of the time, they start to get even more anxious to meet him in person. No one ever really talks about the warmth and positivity that long distance brings when your boyfriend or girlfriend meets your family.

4. Making every outing turn into an adventure

Personal Image

After not seeing each other for a few months it's simple to make every moment last because you know that they have to leave at some point. Being in a long distance relationship taught me that every second counts so seriously make the best out of it. When we are together we make every single thing an adventure, it could be as simple as going to the store or walking the neighborhood.

5. Being present for the special moments in life

Personal Image

One of the biggest perks of being in a long distance relationship is being able to see each other for the special moments. I'm lucky enough to have someone in my life who would fly across the world to see me for my birthday. Long distance relationships bring those amazing opportunities to the table that only make the bond stronger!

6. Taking tons of pics when you're together

Personal Image

One of the things I never really thought about were the amount of pictures that we would take with each other when reuniting. It's actually really funny because at every opportunity we got to take any type of picture, we totally did without a question. When we are actually together for the year we never take THIS many pictures, but honestly it's amazing because i'm able to look back at all of these and have tons of memories.

7. Staying up late to catch a convo because of time change

Personal Image

When it's daylight on the west coast, it's sometimes nighttime on the east coast which makes for some really fun times. I've always been someone who gets tired super quickly but when it comes to talking to my boyfriend about his day, a few extra hours staying awake doesn't even matter.

8. You really learn how to miss someone!

Personal Image

The distance totally makes the bond even stronger but it also makes it even more difficult to be apart! Yes, that was super cheesy but like it's so true and missing the dude is super difficult sometimes. It really brings out the romance on both sides which is also a great perk of the distance!

9. Goodbyes are bittersweet

Personal Image

Saying goodbye is always really hard but then again we try to remember when the next hello will be so that make things a little better. I'm definitely the most emotional one which makes it pretty funny, but after saying goodbye we always know that it'll only be a matter of days until we see each other again.

10. Remembering how lucky you are to be with the person

Personal Image

After all is said and done and the distance is no longer and issue, you begin to remember why you started dating your person in the first place and how lucky you are to have them. I am beyond happy and lucky to have Dylan in my life, and i've learned that distance only makes things stronger when you're together!

So if you're about to get into a long distance relationships it low key sucks but you can honestly take so much away from the experience. I've learned so much about myself and my boyfriend throughout the course of these three months that we haven't been able to be together in person. So whether it's the beginning or you've been in it for years, just know that there is still so much growth left to happen and so many great things to come.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
