When I was younger, I noticed that the "fat kids" got picked on because of their weight; and they were always picked on by people who were smaller than them. I've always been a skinny person, so this never happened to me; until one day, everything changed for us "skinny people".
Now, if you're skinny, it means that you didn't eat, and if you're fat, you ate too much; and if you are anything in between, there's still something that you must be doing wrong because your body shouldn't look like that either. Basically, it doesn't matter if you're underweight, healthy, overweight, and everything in between; you will be shamed. Why? Well, I don't think anyone will have an explanation for that in their lifetime. I mean, really, what's the point in all of this? Let's stop it!
No person, man or woman, should be shamed for the way that they look. You'll see people talking about how the media sets "unrealistically high standards" for what women should look like; but no one NEEDS to look like that. Most places on the media (from what I have seen anyway), are not telling you to look like that. That is just what their models looked like. I have seen many models of many different shapes and sizes, so there is no standard that is being set. I believe that it is okay to be skinny, and if you can see some of your bones, then fine, because those suckers stick out of you whether you're extremely skinny or not. If there's a skinny model, I won't say that they are "too skinny", just like if there were to be a larger model, I'm not going to say that they are "too fat". That is wrong; and that needs to stop.
Women are starving themselves to be skinnier, and women are overeating so they aren't considered "anorexic", even if they do eat a lot. I'm skinny and I've been called anorexic before; but I play sports and generally eat fairly healthy, so there's no reason that I should be called that. Does it hurt my feelings? Sometimes. It's the same for most women. No woman wants to be shamed for how they look. We all want to be confident and feel great in our own skin.
I've heard women who are technically considered overweight saying how they don't wanna be a pile of sticks anyway, and how men like meat on their bones and not just the bones. Why do women have to shame other women just because they don't look like that? Tell her she's beautiful the way she is, and move on! You can be overweight and be gorgeous, just as you can be skinny and be gorgeous as well. If YOU want to look differently because it's in your own mind, then fine! Go ahead! But NEVER try to change who you are because other people do not approve of how you look. If those clothes are a little too tight on you, but they're comfortable, wear them. If your stomach hangs over your pants just a little bit, who cares? Wear that belly shirt and look sexy. If your legs move a little "too much" while you're walking in shorts, put those shorts on, button them up, and keep walking. Let those legs have some air; smile and work it.
I am a skinny person, and I have felt very uncomfortable in my body before because I don't want to gain weight or look too skinny. I would try so hard to look perfect and have an amazing figure; but I've realized now that you should just be confident the way you are. There's nothing wrong with showing some bones, just like there's nothing wrong with having a little extra to cover them up.
I love going to the gym; but I don't do it to lose weight. The gym feels great! Working out is a great experience, and just because someone goes, doesn't mean they want to be someone else. Sometimes that is the case; and if they want to change who they are and what they look like, LET THEM. Let them be themselves and let them feel comfortable in whatever body style they want.
So ladies, and hell, even men, keep your head up, and flaunt whatever you got. No one should ever tell you that your body isn't what it should be. If you're big and happy, be that. If you're skinny and happy, be that. And if you're everything in between and happy, BE THAT.
