With only a few more weeks left in the Spring semester, more and more plans for the summer are starting to be made. Most of us will be working or even going to school, but it is very important that you find some time to slip some fun into your summer. Here’s a summer bucket list that is sure to keep you and your wallet happy.
1. Beach trip!
I know what you’re thinking… The beach is expensive! It doesn’t have to be. Wake up early, pack some cool drinks and snacks and spend an entire day outside with your friends! You don’t need to hit the boardwalk for some ice cream, pizza, shopping and rides every time you’re on the coast.
2. Hiking
Search online for some cool places near you, then go out and explore! Hiking is my favorite summertime activity because it’s different every time. You’d be surprised how many beautiful landscapes you can find basically in your own back yard.
3. DIY activities
Say it with me… Pinterest. Pinterest. Pinterest. Pinterest.
4. Lakes/parks
A lot of towns have parks with small lakes or ponds in the center. This can be a great way to get outside and relive your childhood. Go to the parks you used to go to most and see what’s changed and what hasn’t. It can be a lot of fun, especially if you go with childhood friends.
5. Read a book
I know, I know. You just read for two semesters straight… but when is the last time you read a book for your own pleasure? Can’t afford a vacation? A book can transport you to any vacation you can imagine, you just have to open it up!
6. Write a book!
Hey! You never know you might be the next J.K. Rowling or Stephen King.
7. Bonfires
At the end of a long day cozy up around the fire with some good friends. Add some music and laughter and you've got a recipe for a great summer memory.
8. Firework/Firecrackers/Sparklers
Be safe! But these are just plain fun, so light them up and watch the show!
9. Photoshoot
Find some cool backgrounds. Parks, lakes, woods, signs, etc. Dress in your cutest clothes, and strike a pose! You'll value these pictures more than you know later in life.
10.Make a music video
Pick your fav song. Choreograph a dance and record it!
11. Concerts (Free concerts)
Of course everyone wants to attend at least one concert over there summer break. But have you ever checked out your local music scene? Many townships offer free summer concert series, and who knows, you could find your new favorite artist.
12. Amusement parks
I know that these aren't necessarily cheap, but look for deals. Head to your local grocery store and township building to see if they have any deals for amusement parks near by.
13. Visit the library
14. Bowling
Make sure you look up your local bowling alleys specials first. Many of them have really great, money-saving deals. Bring as many friends as you can for one big competition!
15. Driving Range/Mini golf

16. Create Mocktails (or cocktails if you’re 21+)
These delectable drinks can be fruity and refreshing. Mix your favorite juices, sodas or flavored water to create your new favorite concoction.
17. Learn how to do your makeup
A little practice makes you look perfect! Break out those brushes and watch as many makeup tutorials as your little heart desires.
18. Absorb some much needed Vitamin D
Whether your laying out for hours, or simply walking around for twenty minutes the summer sun can make you look great, boost your energy and your attitude!
19. Exercise stations
If you don't already know what these are you should definitely check them out. Many parks have these if they have a running/walking trail. Get a partner, go on a short jog and work out your body in a fun way on these stations.
20. Baseball game
Major league, minor league, little league. It doesn't matter which one! Baseball games are a cheap, classic American style to spend your summer. Would you rather get in on the action than watch it? Start a weekly pick up game at a public field near you.
