The Truth Behind Older Sisters

God made you sisters so that you would never be alone.

Older sisters might be a pain in the neck while growing up, but over time they turn out to be your life long friend. Growing up with big sisters is interesting. If you have a girly older sister, then she will probably use you as your own personal barbie doll, and play dress up with you. On the other hand, if you have a tomboy older sister, you might be standing in a miniature soccer goal in your back yard while she shoots soccer balls at you (lovingly of course). It does not matter if you have a girly older sister or a tomboy older sister, because that does not change how much they love you. Older sisters will always be the one who would babysit you, give you ice cream and let you stay up past your bed time. They are the ones that will drive you up a wall but then help you climb back down it the next minute.

Going to the same school that your older sister(s) went to can be a blessing or a curse. A blessing, because hopefully your sister was a good student, and that way you will be in your teachers' good graces. And, of course, because the teacher will forever call you by your sister's name.

Once the older sisters start to move out and go to college, the immediate reaction of the younger sister is, "I get to move into her old room so now I have more space!" This feeling will last for a couple of weeks, but with time, the younger sister will begin to dearly miss her older sister. She will miss her companion at the dinner table while doing homework, and over the weekends. The younger sister will also begin to miss her older sister, because the younger sister is now the center of attention when it comes to their parents; all eyes are on her. The younger sister will also begin to miss the meaningless fights that she had with her sister about clothes or shot gun.

As time moves on and the sisters grow older, men will enter their lives to break their hearts, or to sweep them off of their feet. Nobody can help a little sister get over heartbreak quite like a big sister. The big sister has been through everything that the little sister goes through during a break up: regret, dial, self-hatred, and loss. A big sister always knows how to cheer you up after a breakup. She will make you all of the unhealthy foods that you want or just buy you a lot of Ben and Jerry's.

One of the greatest gifts that a big sister can give her little sister is a brother-in-law, especially if the little sister does not already have a brother. The little sister automatically loves the brother-in-law because of what he does to her sister; he makes her happy and whole. If you are lucky enough to get a brother-in-law who will hang out with you willingly, then you know that your sister picked the right man.

Having older sisters is like winning the lottery, except better.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
