It's almost that time of the year, yet again, for all of you college-aged students. Time for plenty of red themed candy and cards that have more hearts than are necessary for any piece of paper to have. The time where guys and girls nervously ask crushes to spend the day with them or if you are already in a relationship simply go out for the evening to a nice restaurant (I suggest Cheesecake Factory, or something similar). But I have the distinct pleasure of being a person that is living the single life this Valentine's Day, so in honor of all my fellow single people in the world I will be providing a list of the top things you can do instead of dating this Valentine's Day -- so enjoy.
1. Go to the SPCA shelter and spend the day with some animals.
Because dogs and cats need love on Valentines Day just as much humans do maybe even more according to those Sarah McLachlan ads back in the day.
2. Spend the day cleaning your bedroom or bathroom.
Because your room can never be too clean. Put in a little elbow grease and make that room sparkle, trust me you will appreciate having a clean room it makes it so much easier to realize how much space you have to yourself.
3. Make your own cheesecake for dinner or dessert.
You how that saying goes, "Everything tastes better when you make it yourself." So instead of going to an expensive restaurant to wait in a two hour line, simply use that time to make your own cheesecake for a fraction of the cost.
4. Finish a season of your favorite TV show or movie on your streaming service of choice.
What better way to spend a night alone then by finally completing that season of television that has been hiding in your queue for the past few weeks.
5. Have a board game night with some other single friends.
Just because you're single doesn't mean you have to spend the day alone. Instead you can invite all of the other single people you know to a game night (I suggest games like Forbidden Island, Ladies and Gentlemen, or Sushi Go)
6. Finally, finish that book that has been next to your bed for the past three months.
In the house with nobody else around is the perfect opportunity to finally finish that book that has been on your reading list forever but you just keep putting off.
7. Take a walk or a hike into the mountains to help clear your head.
Nothing I don't care about being single like climbing up a mountain and being able to look at the view from a advantage point higher than 500 or more feet above sea level.
8. Make plans to attend a concert or music festival.
Now, this one might not always be possible depending on where you live, but being able to listen to an artist that you love live can help to make forget about all of those pesky Valentine's Day reminders.
9. Sleep the day away.
Because nothing says you don't care about what is going on more than simply spending the whole day in bed where MC Pillow and DJ Comforter are having a day long private concert.
