1. Kobe's Final Game
Kobe's retirement tour has finally come to an end but in typical “Mamba” fashion, Kobe, made sure he went out with a bang. Dropping 60 points in his final NBA game against the Utah Jazz, the performance was nothing short of “Kobe-esque” and had fans glued to their T.V. The sure to be future Hall of Famer will truly be missed and games like this are the reason why.
2. The Golden State Warriors Break The Record
Only for their historical moment to be topped by Kobe’s final game the Warriors completed their dominance of the regular season by winning their last game and finishing the season with an outstanding 73-9 record, thus breaking the regular season wins record of 72 that was held by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls.
3. Craig Sager Returns
Beloved TNT reporter Craig Sager returned to the NBA sidelines after he missed the entire 2014 NBA Playoffs due to him being diagnosed with leukemia. After countless days of treatment, Sager, finally went back to work and his timing couldn’t be better as he was back on the sidelines for NBA opening night.
4. NBA Dunk Contest Leaves Fans in Awe
Every year we all ask ourselves, “will the dunk contest be back this year?” And this year’s dunk contest might have been the answer to our prayers, as Zack Lavine, the winner of last year’s dunk contest and Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon had a dunk battle for the ages. Though Lavine took home the title again this year, the true winners were us, the fans, who got to see what we thought were dunks that were physically impossible actually be possible.
5. "Splash Brothers" Battle at NBA 3-Point Contest
What may have been forgotten amidst of all the dunk contest hype, the event before it, the 3 point contest, came down to none other than the “Splash Brothers”, Golden State Warrior teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. In a battle to see who was taking home the 3 point contest crown and bragging rights back to Oakland, however, to everyone's surprise it wasn’t last year’s winner Curry but Klay who took home the crown scoring 27 points in the final round.
