The campus of Blue Mountain College is lovely and quaint. It has a small town vibe and this could partly be because it is located in a small town. The college campus itself is located in Blue Mountain Mississippi. This lovely little town is about twenty minutes from New Albany, ten minutes from Ripley, and about an hour and fifteen minutes from the city of Tupelo. For a new fresh face on the Mountain it can be a daunting task to find a place besides the cafeteria to eat. Blue Mountain in itself does not really have any restaurants. Really there is a lovely little coffee shop, Hebrews coffee shop, and other than that there is only a gas station within the town.
But to all of you new comers, have no fear, you friendly neighborhood BMC senior is here. Here to point the way to the food that is. Here is a list I have compiled of the Top 10 Restaurants a BMC student should know about.
McDonald's
Let’s get real guys, most of us are not rich. The Ripley McDonalds can help you when you have the munchies and they are open all night. Which is something rare around here because Ripley has a 10:00pm shut down time. That’s right Walmart and everyone else goes to sleep early. McDonalds has your back though. Click here for tasty fries.
Dodges
This is another Ripley night owl. Yes this is a gas station in Ripley but they have some really good chicken tenders and cripeto’s when it’s late and you’re hungry. Click here for chicken.
Shakers Pizza
This is also located in Ripley. It is located to your right as you first enter the town coming from the college. My personal favorite thing to get is the personal pan BBQ pineapple pizza. Their taco pizza is also a personal favorite. Click here for pizza.
Mi Pueblo
There are a lot of these in this area. 2 in Ripley alone and 4-5 in New Albany. I like to go the one located right after Shakers Pizza in Ripley. The server Leonardo knows my order by heart. They’ll take care of you there. Click here for chips and salsa.
El Agava
This is another Mexican style restaurant located in New Albany. Their seasonings seem to be a little better and they are really good if you can make the twenty minute drive. Click here for fajita's.
Bankhead Bicycle Club
The BBC is located in down town New Albany right in the middle of the square. They have a dark and calm atmosphere with great pizza, different but delicious hamburgers, and crunch onion straws. They have two thumbs up from this college student. Click here for burgers.
Tallahatchie Gourmet
This is a little more costly but if you have a little extra money and you’re looking for a good meal then I would recommend spending it here. They have really good vegetables, shrimp and grits, and the soup and sandwiches are always just perfect. Click here for shrimp and grits.
The Warehouse
This is another one that’s little on the pricey side but if you ever get the chance to eat at the Warehouse in New Albany then you should. It is located off of the square in New Albany and they are only open Thursday-Saturday 5:00pm-9:00pm. Make a reservation if you’d like a table but it is always worth it if you have to wait. Click here for steak.
Game Tyme
This little shack could be hard to find if you didn’t know where to look. This little gem is located in downtown New Albany and is literally just a shack next to the train tracks. But they have one of the best philly cheese steaks sandwiches you’ll ever eat. All of their burgers and food is well season and very good. Click here for burgers.
Yamato
Usually after Church on Sundays it is not uncommon for me and a few friends to be found at Yamato in New Albany. This is located near Walmart and they have some pretty great chicken hibatchi. Definatly a place to go when your craving rice and yum yum sauce. Click here for sushi.
I hope this article was helpful and I have attached links to all of the restaurants listed so you can get directions and fill your empty stomach in between studying for Dr. Meeks’ New Testament test. And may the odds be ever in your favor fellow students.
