Here I am, one year into the rest of my life as a working woman in corporate America. I am no longer considered a "recent graduate" since the class below me just moved their tassels to the left. I have pretty much adjusted to the 40-hour grind and am no longer depressed that this is my life now. I've learned to balance my weeks and enjoy the time I get to sleep in on the weekends.
A few weeks ago, I drove through my college town. My heart sunk as I thought about the flood of memories that came back to me in that moment. All my friends and casual drinking acquaintances, I MISS YOU! The memories at "Club Shortys (On The Waterfront) are irreplaceable. Dancing to 50 Cent and Ludacris at the Pub- priceless. These are the times I think about often, but what about the other memories, the distant memories we sort of forgot about...
Seeing a random body flailing while walking from the SUB to the library. Don't be alarmed, that would be a student getting personally victimized by the vicious bees of Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
Miserably trudging to your 9am (when we thought life was hard- one 50 minute class a day...ha) and having your day instantly brighten when you see an inspirational (or degrading) rock message in the alumni fountain.
Miserably trudging to class in a snowstorm...why yes, we will still have class even though Main Street and campus is a full on ice rink! Good luck!
Noble Street. Need I say more? Beer cans rolling in the wind. Intoxicated idiots passed out in an alleyway. Very casual.
Living on Main Street (221 West Main forever in my heart) and getting woken up by a horse neighing. Speaking of horses, ever been late to class because you were stuck behind a horse and buggy? Ever been late to class because you were staring too long at the Amish woman riding her bike?
Ever have a friend literally insist on walking from Main Street to Apex because it was 4am and the drunk bus was no longer running for the night. I have...LOL.
Ever have a drunken stare down with the cop sitting on the weekend shuttle? It may or may not have happened...
Angry chicken on the bell tower. Ever been late meeting your friends at the bar because you keep staring at the chicken?
Tommy Boys and Mamas after 2am. Need I say more?
Getting in serious shape walking from Lytle to Old Main. Who needs the gym anyway?
You get a parking ticket! You get a parking ticket! Everyone gets a parking ticket! *Oprah Voice*
The Potty Paper...because who else left class out of pure boredom just to go read the potty paper?
Kutztown, you will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for the memories and everlasting scent of farm animals xo
