I shared the struggles of wearing contacts, and now you can guess from the title, I'm going to share the struggles of wearing glasses. On those days you want a break from those contacts or if you don't mess with contacts at all, you don glasses on your face. And here are the struggles of doing so.
1. If it rains, you're screwed
When it's raining and I have to walk to class, all I want to do is be cozy. And I associate being cozy with wearing my glasses. But no matter how much rain gear you wear, your glasses will always get covered in rain drops. I've tried different solutions such as putting my glasses in my pocket for the walk to class to avoid such pesky things, but then everyone turns into little blobs against a bigger blobbed background.
2. Applying make up is a hassle
You obviously can't apply your make up while wearing glasses. And if you can, props to you. Without them, your face is a giant blob and your facial features blur together. You get very up close and personal with your mirror.
3. But filling in your brows is even more of a hassle
Because if you have bigger frames, they cover half your eyebrow. Again, you are very very very close to your mirror to accomplish this feat. I don't even want to talk about trying to tweeze your eyebrows without glasses.
4. You always see a frame when you're watching movies
Every time you see a movie, especially in the theater, you always see the frames of your glasses in your peripheral vision. Bits of the television screen are replaced by the circular outline of your glasses. It's more annoying than it sounds.
5. When there's a big temperature difference, they fog
When you drink something hot or walk into the heat from a cold place, they fog and the fog lasts for a few minutes. People point it out and chuckle like yeah thank you because I didn't notice the fog forming right before my eyes and blocking my vision.
6. And can we talk about trying to work out with them on?
You have two options. You either wear your glasses and push them up every five seconds because you're sweating or you don't wear them while running on the treadmill and risk falling off. You have to squint to see how many miles you've run and this becomes the perfect combination for a headache. Try choosing the lesser of the two evils.
7. Little kids are your enemy
Just about every little kid you hold grabs your glasses and wants to hold them. They smudge them and trying to get them back is next to impossible.
8. When you have to wear safety goggles in class
and you have to put them over your regular glasses. I had to do that once or twice in chemistry class and I felt ridiculous.
