Let's face it, not every college team out there is great, and some are definitely worse than others. Nonetheless, while it's nice to even have a football team at college, there are some facts everyone knows to be true when your football team is less than stellar:
No Primetime Coverage
Get used to waking up at 8 a.m. to tailgate for a noon kickoff 'cause--let's face it--almost every game is going to be played at noon and those coveted 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. slots only come around once a season.
College Gameday Never Comes To Your School
There won't be any cool Snapchat story that your tailgate will be featured on, or live coverage of the day's festivities (meaning this game is not a huge matchup).
Terrible Bowl Games
If the team is lucky enough to be playing in a bowl game, it means they'll be playing in a bowl game you've never even heard of like the Music City Bowl or the GoDaddy Bowl game.
Never Being Ranked
As a result, your team will never make it into the top 25 or worse--will come heartbreakingly close, only to lose by two points.
Having "Worst" Records
Such as but not limited to most sacked quarterback (that's directed at you Sackenberg and the rest of the Penn State OL).
Heartbreak After Most Games
As much as you have grown to accept it, you are still hopeful every game, only to be disappointed and walk away in disbelief that your team lost to someone like Temple.
Losing Games We Should Have Won
Once again, that loss to Temple was a rough one and I'm not sure we will ever live it down, but eventually you accept that your team is not the best.
Having Your Offensive Coordinator Fired
After a shameful loss to the Michigan State Spartans, we said see you later to John Donovan.
Even though the struggles can be hard, at the end of the day we can all remember that Penn State has never lost a tailgate!
