It's saturday afternoon and I have an article due for the Odyssey. I have a couple iedeas floating but cannot get anything out. It's writer's block and it happens to me more often than not when writing. I've even had it several times while writing this. Writer's block as described by google is the condition of being unable to think of what to write or how to proceed with writing.

Writers block can be random and come at the literal worse times. Here are some examples of the stages of writers block:

1. Procrastination:

Everyone can relate to procrastination. The feeling of not knowing what to write so pushing it off until the last possible moment. Procrastination is one of if not the worse stage of writer's block.

2. Scrambiling for Ideas:

So you've procrastinated for a while and you realized that it's due. So the second stage is scrambeling for ideas of what to write about. This is by far the most stressful moment of writer's block cause it forces you to find a topic and commit to writing.

3. Comitting to write:

So you have finally realized you cannot procrastinate any longer and you scrambled to find an idea to write about. You still may have writer's block or maybe you finally are cleared and ready to write. Either way you commit to getting it done because you have no other option.

Writer's block is a huge struggle. Writer's block doesn't just exist when writing articles but can also hit you with homework and papers. Everyone has had writer's block at some point in time. The most important thing to understand when you have writer's block is that you can get through it and still put together something good. If you have writer's block it is important to focus and try and get out of the mindset. Avoid the stages of procrastination and scrambling for ideas by just commiting to write. If you are still having trouble figuring out how to get out of writer's block lean to friends and family, and ask for suggestions. That doesn't mean that you have to use their suggestions but it's good to help you get your mind stimulated through conversation. Don't just roll over and give up. If you work hard and actively try and get rid of your writers block than chances are you will be able to.

I'm not saying you should force ideas but rather focus and try and pull together your best ideas. Draw inspiration and focus on writing. Write multiple copies if needed but the best way to get out of writer's block is to work at getting out of writer's block. It is possible to get out of writer's block but unfortunately it is up to the individual person how to get out of writer's block.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
