Thanksgiving is just days away and as I prepare to go home, I’m thinking of all the things I have to be thankful for this year, and, while there are many, many more, here seven are of them.
1. My mom
I love my mom more than anything else in this entire world. She does absolutely everything for me and I am beyond thankful. My birthday was a week ago and she went all out for it, even though we’re 400 miles apart. She is the hardest worker and my greatest inspiration.
2. My family in general
While the picture above was taken on a somber occasion (my grandmother’s funeral this past summer), my family is, nonetheless, something that can always bring a smile to my face. They are crazy and dysfunctional and argue, but they’re mine and I wouldn’t trade them for anything in this entire world. I am so thankful for their love and support.
3. My roommate
My roommate is one of the craziest people I’ve ever met and I love her to death. I have had terrible roommate experiences in the past, but she is by far the best person to live with. Not only is she super sweet and clean, she lets me borrow her clothes and took me out for a massage for my birthday. This Thanksgiving, I can honestly say that I am thankful for this amazing human being in my life.
4. My friends
My friends are the best people I am not blood related to. I don’t have a singular photograph of every single one of my friends, so I’m not going to post any. All that needs to be known about them is that they are absolutely fabulous and deserve all the praise in the world for helping me through some really tough times in my life and that I will never be able to thank them enough.
5. My sorority
I have recently become an initiated member of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity and I cannot be any happier with that choice. I went through informal recruitment in the spring of my freshman year and did not receive a bid, but came back in the fall for formal recruitment and here I am. I am surrounded by so many beautiful, strong, and amazing women who I know I can count on for anything, and I am truly thankful for each and every one of them (especially my Big).
6. My job
I work for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as a University Ambassador and probably have the best job on campus. It can get crazy and hectic at times, but I love it. Not only am I thankful for the paycheck it provides me with, I am also thankful for all the people I’ve met and friendships I’ve made throughout the year and a half I have been employed there.
