The Riley Curry Phenomenon

Why Riley Curry should be your spirit animal.

The Riley Curry Phenomenon

The Riley Curry Phenomenon began this past NBA season, when the adorable Riley was seen on TV climbing all over her father, Golden State Warrior's star Steph Curry, at a post-game press conference. It's been a hot topic for the media and public ever since!

When you type "riley" into Google, "riley curry" is even the first result that comes up.

A few months ago, no one knew about this little girl, and now she's on the top of everyone's newsfeed. Photos, videos and memes of Riley Curry appear daily on Facebook, Instagram, Vine and Twitter, each cuter and funnier than the last. The most recent video was posted by Steph Curry and his wife on Riley's third birthday. It shows her dancing to the popular song "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)."

Here are just a few of the reasons the awesome Riley Curry should be your new spirit animal.

She's confident.

She grabs the mic at NBA conferences broadcasted on live television like it's nobody's business. She speaks her mind and owns it. She even tells her own father to "be quiet." Not many three-year-olds are brave enough to speak to a room full of reporters. Even most grown adults get apprehensive at that. Riley Curry, however, is anything but shy and has captured the hearts of many this way.

She's carefree.

Letting everyone know how bored you are with press conferences? No problem. Crawling around on the floor like a little monkey on live TV? Sure thing. Riley Curry does her thing when she wants, where she wants. She doesn't let anything hold back her rambunctious and lively personality.

She can dance.

*Awwwwwww* It's a tiny, little girl dancing to a popular hip-hop/rap song. What could possibly be cuter? Even better than that, she goes all in and hits that nae nae like it's nobody's business. She can dance better than some grown adults and she's only three. That gives her a lot of time to work on her whip, which could stand for a little improvement. Either way she's having a great time.

She's knows how blessed she is.

Riley Curry quoted Big Sean when she said "way up I feel blessed" at an NBA post-game conference. She reminds all of us to take a look around and count our blessings. Maybe she was just quoting a song and had no idea what it meant, but it's nicer to think of her as a tiny philosophical kid.

She loves her family.

Riley's not embarrassed to admit that she loves her mom and dad. Don't be ashamed to admit it either. Riley shows us that affection is cool and not to be ashamed of love no matter how "lame" it is to show your mom and dad that in public.

We could all take a leaf out of the Riley Curry book. Recently I heard someone say they would rather meet Riley Curry than Steph Curry, and I would probably have to agree with them. However I would say, why not both? This adorable father-daughter duo has captured the hearts of many Americans, and we can't wait to see what she'll do next. Keep doing your thing Riley.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
